just anybody shoot a single stack in standard class and if so how do you fair in the class with it thanks

Not really since Classic division came along. Classic is specifically for single stack 1911's, shooting a SS In Standard would be the almost the same as shooting STI Edge in Open division. You could, but why?

You could, but why?

Not every 1911 conforms with the requirements of Classic Division. If you have one that does not, SD is the place to go (The S&W 1911 with the slide cuts being a good example. I've met at least 2 guys who wanted to shoot theirs in Classic but couldn't.)

Should you *buy* a single stack gun for the purposes of competing in Standard? No. Run what you brung? Yes.

I came in top 5 at the Nationals in Standard with a 1911 single stack 45, so yes: you can do it if you're masochistic enough... but if you want to truly be competitive, then 'no' it's not the right gun.

If you're concerned about being competitive: then buy the right gun.
If you've got a gun you want to shoot: then yes, have fun with it.

so no single stack so what would you run in standard class for a double stack STI Edge-tanfoglio limited -czspo1

..... same as shooting STI Edge in Open division. You could, but why?

Because its fun beating up on open guys with non open equipment!

Plus, many matches have almost all targets at less than 15 yards where a dot may actually be slower than open sights.

There's always a valid reason for doing something.

either the Edge or the Tanfoglio Custom Limited are great choices, I personally run a Tanfoglio but thats because i like the feel much better then the STI. :)

I love the sti 2011 guns...but i will never be as comfortable as shooting the tanfoglio series of guns. I currently have a V8 open gun, 40 limited custom for standard, and an xtreme for production in 9mm. If you can test a few guns...see what fits u best.

Ie...if u use a cz shadow in production...u will really like a limited custom in 40 for standard

CZ Tactical Sport Similar to tanfoglio but with a way better trigger and less cost. I have over 10,000 thru mine now with no issues. The trigger will blow your mind! I have won a local match in standard division with a single stack 45. It is not the right gun for the division though. Shooting for fun and you like the 45 go for it. Want to be competitive? Get the CZ TS or Tanfo LC. The CZ design seems more reliable than the STI. you almost never see malfunctions with CZ design pistols. STI are the most popular and most expensive though

Please report back when you get to 30K or as I like to call it; one shooting season.

The CZ design seems more reliable than the STI.
Try telling that to the guys at Phoenix Indoor Range in Edmonton; they have a rental STI Edge with over 3/4 of a million rounds documented through it.
