Hey
just wanted to ask if those of you who have done some work on your noricos/dominion arms 1911 wouldn't mind posting some photos and what you did to them..looking for some ideas .
was at the range yesterday and put another 150 rounds down range with my chrome 1911 and was thinking of maybe a few upgrades to personalize it a bit....no rush next few months project and what parts did you order and from where.

my basic dominion arms 1911 in chrome...
thanks
Glenn.

ive noticed some wearing on my trigger...not in the pic but same side wear mark is just where the middle hole is and just touches the frame..
the things I may change are the safety for first as it looks like it was on the floor for a month before being installed.
the sights seem ok and somewhat on target..
did you have to modify the new sights for installation?

After the $500 CanAm 1911 & ammo deal came out, there were a few guys that removed the blueing, buffed up the carbon steel to a high shine and just oiled the bare metal. They looked fantastic in the pics.

Its now a couple of years later and I would loved to hear and see how these guns have fared. I live in the PRA (Peoples Republic of Albertastan) where it is quite dry, and might go down this route if keeping the rust at bay is not too hard.

Would love to hear from anyone who has one of those 1911s.

That chrome model doesn't appear to have any Norinco or Made in China markings, is it the same for the other side?

Norinco 1911's.....

"Unmarked" Norinco 1911A1...... put in a vintage Colt S70 trigger & changed out the grips:

Norinco NP-29 [1911A1 in 9mm]..... older version.... ditched the extended slide stop for a standard one, put in an adjustable aluminum trigger & changed out the grips:

Norinco 1911A1 'compact' [commander]..... older version.... ditched the extended slide stop for a standard one, put in an adjustable aluminum trigger & changed out the grips:

I prefer 'em simple, with clean lines & unencumbered by extra do-dads.....

Also, not a fan of the current Norc 1911's with forward cut slide serrations which, for me, are completely useless.

Just my .05 ;)

Where do you guys get the longer trigger? I find mine a little short.

Ganderite--does the adjustable rear sight go in the dovetail or does it require drilling/milling?

My dominion arms 1911 only says
Dominion Arms but you really have to look close no made in china or anything..the chrome finish hides the dominion arms name again you have to look close to see it.
I really want one in 9mm...
wife would kill me if I ordered another gun...lol
waiting for canada ammo to get more in and deals to.
I'm on vacation in mid july so may take a drive up to Epps to see what parts they have in stock.
Glenn.

This is one I did last year. I'll post the parts I put into it tommorrw. It's pretty much a norinco slide frame and barrel. Everything else is something else.

that looks nice
I'm starting to like the smaller sized safety and slide release.
that one is the chrome one correct ( or chrominiom ?)
I find that it's not nice and smooth to the touch like my other one, not gritty but I don't know how to explain it just not glass smooth...cause of the chrome finish ?

anyone install a comp bushing ?
was thinking about one of these but wasn't sure how much fitting was involved

Used the regular 'blue' plastic bushings. I find one has to use the slide release button only to close the open slide. No room to pull the slide itself back to release when using a bushing.
I have two. A two tone and a government model.

Blue plastic bushing? like a recoil bushing? I thought he might have been talking about a compensator bushing?

I know someone who bought one, definitely needs some fitting, he hasn't done it yet, just sitting in his spare parts box.

I got some of those...one really buffed to shine and one "just blueing removed" in bare metal...dropped it back into the safe after a short shooting session, last summer. Uncleaned with sweaty hands. Almost a year later, i still have found no rust. I don't think they are using stainless, but the steel is so dense, it won't rust (and you can wreck a drill bit in no time )

Mine is the same as you describe. It's because they don't polish the metal before the chrome is applied. Takes the finish that's underneath. It looks a bit smoother in my pictures because of the lighting.

Most of the parts on my norc are Wilson combat and Ed brown, and a Nowlin barrel bushing. I ordered almost everything from brownells at the time. If your looking for Wilson combat parts, tier one armoury in Edmonton has a pretty decent selection.
