Decided to get a handgun $600 budget, suggestions?

If those are the polymer ones I didn't much care for the one I shot, because I prefer a bit of heft, but it did shoot.

Has anyone tried those Tri Star CZ and Jericho clones? Del Selins and I think Wanstalls have them. I'm wondering if they have the same sear creep as the CZ-75B has, and what the quality is like. If it's anything like Girsan, they might be worth looking at.

No experience with Tri Star. Hell I'm still waiting for the CFO to stop dragging their feet for the transfer of my MK III .22lr. But all the reviews I've read and watched on youtube give the Tri Star guns high marks.
 
I'm in the same boat as you with the same budget. I've norrowed my choices to a glock 17 gen 4, m & p 9, sr9 and maybe an cz-75. So far I've shot the sr 9 and the m & p. I like the m & p the best so far. I've held a glock 17 gen 3 I found it to be to fat for my hands hence why I id go with a gen 4. I've also held the glock 19, it fit my hand better but I don't like how the barrel protrudes the muzzle. I'm most liket buying used, try and shoot what you wanna buy or at least hold them and see how they feel.

Wow, they make real nice guns. I'll have to remember them when I decide to shop for a 1911. Thanks.

Give that CZ 75 SP-01 a try it's I believe a great value and accurate in a 9mm is pretty easy to shoot well..
 
I didn't read all 7 pages of this thread, so excuse me if this has already been mentioned, but I would suggest looking at well kept used pistols before buying new.

A modern pistol, especially of the "combat" variety (glocks, m&p, etc etc) will literally last generations if they are looked after. You'll save yourself considerable money if you buy used and it's likely you probably won't keep your first pistol anyway.

Just something to think about. I've seen practically new M&P's, Glocks, Berettas, Walthers, Springfields, practically all of them, for sale in the 600.00 range.
 
Rifter, this post from Gander is one you should re-read several times. Many posters are anonymous and just spout their opinion....fwiw there is a wealth of knowledge coming from this one poster, its worth paying attention to what he says.

If you don't reload, you can buy commercial reloads with lead bullets quite cheaply. About half the cost of factory jacketed ammo.

I have a lot of different handguns and have an accurate load for almost all of them. Most were purchased on the EE. Only 2 (out of over 100) cost more than your $600 budget.

The most impressive 9mm I have seen is the CZ Shadow. My favourite 45 is a M&P with an Apex trigger. Comfortable, accurate and quick to aim. I also have a Norc 1911 with adjustable sights that was very accurate right out of the box.

If you are only buying one, try to shoot some different ones at your club. If you have a box of factory 9mm and factory 45, I bet every guy you see with an interesting pistol will let you try it. Some won't work in your hand and maybe you will find one that is perfect, for you.

The CZ P-09 is a good pistol, I doubt you would enjoy it as your primary pistol. its very light and snappy a full sized metal frame CZ is much more comfortable to shoot. You can also ad a 22 conversion kit to the metal framed 75/85 series CZ, which I don't think fits on the P-09. I had one, and sold it.

In your budget what not buy one of the Norc and Ammo combo's that comes along now and again. 45 ammo is very cheaply priced if you can find bulk surplus.

My thinking is if you can afford to shoot 4 boxes of 45 ammo every month, then you could not shoot for 2 months and really ad to your gun budget and buy a beauty. If a 1911 is what you are after do not compromise. If you want an outstanding budget 45, the M&P 45, CZ 97, Ruger sr45, are all good guns. I shoot HK45, and Sig p220,
