slide locking back with rounds in the mag during shooting.

The white box seems a bit hot maybe just bit too peppy of a batch. Would that cause the problem? Mags seem fine although that makes the most sense.

Weak ammo will cause FTF, stovepipes or double feeds. Full power loads should cycle well. Don't think it's ammo. Likely the magazine like silverfoxdj says. Try different mags and see. How's your grip? Maybe you are reverse riding the slide stop somehow?

My guess is a weak slide stop spring. That was the cause when it happed with my CZ.

I changed the slide stop last year. I will run it in a club match tomorrow and mark the mags if they continue. I never thought of the spring. I don't thinks its the thumb I have a spare slide stop I think I will put it in and hope for 90 rounds of clean shooting. The last 42 rounds are slow enough I have time to clear an issue and still stay under time . fingers crossed.

After firing a few rounds, take out the slide stop and check for copper marks from the bullet on the slide stop.If you see any, the bullets are causing premature lock open, carefully file the slide stop where you see these marks and it should cure the problem, if this carries on try a different bullet profile

You can also take the top end off, replace the slide stop, put in a loaded mag into the frame and see whether the bullets are making contact with the slide stop

what weight of bullet? On the Shadows you need to either source a 40 S&W gun slidestop or modify the one that came with your gun to use 147gr bullets or they push the slidestop up during shooting.

I ran the gun yesterday in a match and it did it with 115 Winchester white box. Forunately it was in a heat I had lots of time . 124 grain hand loads work well and 115 and 124 Federal work good as well. I saw nothing irregular on the slide stop. I will keep trying and make sure I have 124 grain hand loads for time sensitive shooting.

Glad you narrowed it down, I've had similar problems with Winchester ammo in the past and now reload most of my pistol ammunition with good results

Yeah its strange but hopefully a steady diet of 124 grain handloads makes for a long reliable summer. I am going to upgrade to a shadow eventually but until I cull the heard I will shoot this. I shot my personal best with this gun Sunday so its got another season in it. Actually a cool gun is made in 1988.

I think 40 frame is a bit wider and slide stop will be sticking out.
