There's pretty much 3 kinds as far as I know, some are about .307, some closer to the middle at .304 and I make mine .300.
It's only for comparative measurement, so it doesn't really matter so long as you always use the same one after you touched off from the rifling with the new gauge and each type of bullet you shoot, write down the reading and go from there for how much jump you roughly want and see how they shoot. It's not in any way an "exact" measurement, but plenty close and much better than measuring from the tip.
