NEA Vz58 upper hand-guard

The ball bearing isn't peened in. If you pull the pin all the way out, the ball bearing will come out.

They don't come with set screws at the front or the one hole at the rear. The front hole is threaded in case you want to put a screw in it to tighten it up for some models with slightly different case blocks.

Thanks for the Explanation Chemist....It's been a while since I pulled the pin on one of those so to speak, I seem to recall that there was a de-tent of some sort that acted as a stop once the pin was clear. I guess I never yanked it past that point.

I've tried pretty much every mount for the vz58. For using a red dot the NEA upper works the best for me. But theyre all pretty good. I just prefer the NEA for the lower 1/3 cowitness and how easily it installs/removes.

This is what I'm looking at for my setup. Have you tried the railed receiver cover or the side mounts? The biggest issue I see with them is the height of the optic. Also wondering what works best with an NEA rail and red dot for stocks. I have a straight and angled stock adapter but not sure what to go with at this point.

I have the low side mount. Personally it's not for me. Kinda makes the rifle feel bulky to me. Close to my thumb. Plus I prefer to have a red dot as far away from my eyes as possible. I've posted this pic before but I'll post it again.

As you can see you can obtain a lower 1/3 cowitness with the irons. I like this because if I forget batteries I can keep shooting.
But you need to keep the original stock height. So the angled AR stock adapter will work. But if you don't like the angled look. There's this adapter that gives you a choice of 4 different heights. These are very nice quality. Here's a link

Here it is on a rifle. Second set of holes up from bottom line up perfectly.

Geez I didn't realize how bad that pic was until I posted it. It almost looks angled. Lol. It's not.

My experiec with the nea mount is that its rattlely and unreliable... I did get the dust cover mount and seems to be a much better optic mount... Try Corwin arms or zahal.org

I've had it on 3 vz58/cz858's and never thought it rattlely or unreliable
Those threaded holes on the top of NEA handguard are theaded. You can add little set screws(home hardware) to remove any wobble. I've only had to do that on one cz858

Awesome thanks for the pics! I have fab defense furniture on it right now, but I'd like to swap it out for some aluminum, and the top rail has too much wiggle for my liking.

I've got the dust cover mount from Corwin, it has kept zero since the say I put it on. That's with cleaning salt out of the firearm after every range trip. Now that I've got a case of DA ammo I'm glad I won't have to worry about it as much ever again.

Now I just need to source a foregrip solution that matches the height of the dust cover rail...
