Got an itch.. Colt Python.

You can get nice Python, blued, for about $1700. This is good condition, used.

Really? Tell me where, I'll take 3! I haven't seen any on here (or anywhere else) for less than $1800 in years, and that one was a junker. Anything remotely decent is well over the $2000 mark. Wishing you can get them for that doesn't mean the people who have them for sale will part with them for that. Supply and demand.

Respectfully, i've seen several in good condition over the past few years on EE and other sites, and on consignment ranging from 1800-2300. (Heck a target Python 38 sold at Epps last year for 1900). just because you didn't see them, doesn't mean they didn't exist.
And in terms of supply and demand, same seems to apply the other way. Just because you think your gun is worth 5k, doesn't mean someone will buy it.

I've seen a couple in the $1800-1900 range as well (not $1700 mind you), condition was not good thought (I bought one, and it went straight back to the seller as it wasn't fit to shoot because of poor timing). For the money, a nice 27-2 would be a far better purchase, with a good wad of cash left over for ammunition. Once you get in to the $2000-2400 range I would think that a G or VG Python can be found if you're patient, for the person who just really wants a Python. Papers and box bring extra. I also completely agree that asking for $5000 or more for blue pythons is wishful thinking, and certainly doesn't set the price....asking isn't getting, as is evidenced by a few examples that have been going around and around on the EE at those asking prices. I do believe though that the days of seeing good Pythons for under $2000 is gone, but I'd be happy to be wrong and buy any that you have.

I have an excellent condition Colt Trooper Mk V and as far as looks go it's about the same as a Python...Internals? somewhat different but I don't think the average shooter like me would notice...I have a Colt...so the lustre of the name has gone for me...If I had a Python well the lustre of the name would be gone after a few months as well...Thing is my Trooper is a gun I will keep because it is an accurate handgun, easy to shoot, da or sa...Then again I have a Taurus 669SS that is just as nice and just as accurate and I love them both...I won't probably sell either of them...They are both keepers...thing is I paid half as much for the Taurus and it is as much of a gun as the Colt...BTW the Taurus is pre Florida...strictly Brasil. So if you want to buy a name and pay a big buck go for it but over time you will realize that you've bought some name and ego...In my Opinion.

It's really good that you like the Taurus revolver.

Chances are high that you might never be able to sell it.

The last one that someone loaned to me to just try out, shot more lead out the sides then it did out of the muzzle.

If I was going to drop $3000+ on a handgun I would wait till the election to see if they are banned first. NDP and Liberals both say they are banning handguns. I would be pissed if I spent thousands now on what could be a paperweight in less that 6 months.

We have a winner here... My thoughts exactly... JP.

When I was about 18, my friend bought a Python new from a local gun shop. IIRC it was approx. $700.00. This was in the late 70's. He still has it and still shoots it. I learned to shoot with that gun. I wish I'd bought one myself. Once I decided to do it, the price had gone through the roof. Crazy.

I just bought a 586 (no dash) from a CGN EE seller. I've been calling it my Python. I haven't shot it yet but it feels great. I'll reserve judgement on the 586 or 27 vs. the Python but this 586 seems good. I have an early 686 coming at some point soon that has been tuned up really well. It should be interesting to compare them.

Anyway, the 586 is my Python.

Good luck to the OP to scratch the itch.

Tells me a lot about what you know despite your trader rating...I won't be selling this Taurus...It is the most accurate revolver I have...and the easiest to shoot that I have had and I've shot most of the best semi's and revolvers.
Oh and it's too bad that you had a sh*tty loaner if that's what it really was lol. A loaner that is...Sounds more like you bought the crappy thing lol

I started with a search for a python too.... but scratched my itch with this....
(not planning to get rid of it any time soon, so I gave it a nice buff - didn't like the brushed steel look)

Gun sales are through the roof ever since obama started talking about gun bans.

Wish we were more like the States when it comes to comments like this.... Gun sales are through the roof ever since obama started talking about gun bans.

This IS the reason why I got one... just to stick it to them.

The States doesn't have the registered guns that can easily be confiscated like we do.

Obviously my truthful experience struck at your emotions and you lashed out.

No sir, I will never ever own the t revolver, the wanna-be smith.
It's interesting that you felt you had to inspect my trader rating.

Have a nice day now and don't over react. If your heart beats faster reading this, that's only you slowly killing yourself.

Taurus is the Ford Fiesta of guns. However you can get a warranty on the Ford, the Taurus, not so much.

Get the Python. The cost will probably never go down. Beautiful guns; it's how that all should be made. It's the one gun I own that I will NEVER part with.

I have a 6" blued Python. Pretty good condition, it has been fired. No box. I guess I could let it go. I bought it "used" over 10 years ago and probably put about a box through it. Been off work for a bit. Not sure if a couple thousand dollars will change my life but neither will my safe being a couple pounds lighter.
