Hi, I've been fishing for a few years in a murky river in southern Ontario (welland river wainfleet part). I caught channel cats, bullheads, bowfin, sheep head, white perch, carp (bowfishing aswell), crappie, bass and some sunfish, but i'm yet to catch a pike. I talked to some people, and they say the caught them. What should I use? I usually drop a worm at the bottom or use minnows about a foot down to catch fish. This water is very murky, can't see anything in it, there is no current, unless it is windy or if a boat drives by lol.

Throw lure in water and retrieve. Once caught a 6 incher on a red and white spoon, almost as big . Then, there's the story of the guy who dropped his false teeth over the side of the boat. Big pike snapped them up before they hit bottom. Smelts work well for bait if allowed. There's a reason they call them Slough Sharks.

I have a red an white spoon. Do i just cast mid depth? Would fishing in a channel be a better option?Throw lure in water and retrieve.

they re territorial and agressive so do that way ... it wil work.
Pike are usually most active later in the day, in all depths, and water temps. Look for any eddy or backwater areas behind obstacles like rocks or shoals where fish rest to avoid fighting a current. They follow the bait fish, so think where the bait fish would be to figure out where the Pike are at any given time.
Cast into the sun if possible, and retrieve with an extended jig-like action allowing the lure to stop, sink a bit, then crank (swim) some more. Moving rod side to side also helps.
Use realistic looking lures that mimic your local baitfish as much as possible during clear water and bright days. Use spinners and spoons (Mepps, DareDevle, etc) in murky waters on cloudy days.
If you have weeds, use top water or shallow-diver lures and fish over the weeds or along the side of the beds. Use weedless spoons to get down into the weeds by casting out, allow time to sink, then retreive.

Five of diamonds (yellow and red, original pattern accept no substitute)
Cast parallel to your cover (weeds, what have you) retrieve pretty fast, if you don't catch a jack, there are none

Not many fishing skills required to catch Pike, they're always looking for an excuse to hit a moving object. Even I can catch them Grizz

Where he is talking of fishing for them there are no clear water days. We used to catch them in the old canal in Port Dalhousie in the quieter waters around the boat docks when I was a kid. They really liked hanging out in the storm drain entrances in the breakwalls and ambushing our baits. We caught them on smelts under a bobber or by tossing lures. The water was murky there too so lures that made lots of noise drew them out.
believe it or not, I've caught an awful of pike on a beer can, or a child's rubber duck- BIIIG ones too= anything that looks lie food or flash will do- frogs, mice, you name it- pike ain't fussy
and 5 of diamonds - lure that looks like the 5 of diamonds playing card- although to be honest, it does no better than your red and white stripe

Dare devil or five of diamonds. Instant pike. Most of the Mepps lures work for smaller ones too.
