NEA upper and non NEA lower fitment

Moving the rail ahead a thou or so may work, its not ideal. Here is the clearance I have on mine. I wouldn't have to remove much to get it to fit other lowers.

I will say, that with the new rail, this is a nice, solid upper, and a thick, heavy barrel. This new rail is much better than the old one. NEA at least replaced it for free when the last gen wiggled around.

I see now this is a known issue, which was my question.

I have a NEA upper that required a punch to get the take down pin seated in my Armalite lower. Enough was enough as I didn't want to ruin such a good lower so a Dremel tool was used to delicately shave some material off of the radius on the rear from the upper. Left it tight but this is improving the more I shoot it. I also required some shaving to get a Phase 5 charge handle to go through the notches.

After some initial disappointments and some Dremel tool work the gun runs and runs with nay a problem. Even in rain and mud the thing functions.

Im very impressed with NEAs customer service. It's beyond top notch.
Their quality is getting better each day as well... you can see the big difference between their first gen stuff and newer.
Its disappointing a lot of people have marked them off their lists due to the quality issues they had in the beginning. But I guess the more for me!

Once I was able to get them to reply to my emails, which was sporadic, then it went well. They had to be prodded to answer. I had to send them my upper to get the old gen rail replaced with the new one, which is much, much better.

Had the same issue and had to do some fitment on the handguard to make it work with other lowers.

NEA was going to send me a re-fitted hand guard no questions asked, after I shipped mine back. But now since the rear lug is out of spec compared to my mil-spec lowers, I just want to get rid of it all together.

If I wanted to swap my upper to lots of lowers I would just lightly file the probleem lug to the correct size... done. And no one will even see it

Don't file it, you will cut through the anno and expose the soft metal underneath, you won't like the result of that, I promise.

I had a 14.5" gun that was built with a NEA upper receiver... I had to use a mallet to get it to close on my Noveske lower... and my KAC lower... and my Aero lower...

This. I wouldn't worry about it had it been proper forged 7075, but NEA (and a plethora of mfgs who know ####-all what they're doing) uses "aerospace-grade 6061 billet", which in fact is simply just run-of-the-mills, regular (and soft) extruded aluminium. You pay a premium for it because it's labelled "billet aluminium", well how do you think that aluminium "billet" was formed?

Cheap marketing crap.

Why do i need to dremel a brand new part for it to function the way it was intended to function, the way I paid it to function?
Thats why I dont bother with some brands.

Don't mess with it, if it doesn't fit email them and arrange to have it replaced. Not the ideal solution but it's better than filing it or taking a dremel to it. NEA has incredible customer service and they'll replace anything that isn't right.
