I just picked up a Browning 81 BLR and the more I handle the rifle the more I love it, it's a 7mm-08 with a one piece leupold base with burris rings which I already had and a burris fullfield II 3-9x40 scope, rifle loves hornady 139gr interbond whitetail ammo, 5 shots in a inch hole at 100yds, what a sweet little rifle, had one before in 358 win but recoil was a bit much and traded it away, my rifle was made in 1990, just wondering what other blr owners think?

I had one. Didn't like it. Sold it. Just didn't feel right to me. Didn't like the way it felt when I cycled it. Just not for me. It was a takedown. 358.

I have a very well loved and beat up pre 81 blr in .243 it still shoots great even though it has been stripped and re-blued and abused more than a few times . Side note, NEVER use dri-z-air in your cabinet .

Have had 3 different BLR's. All in .308 Win. Two, the older version with stick out mags, the last one had a flush fit mag.

Like the handling of them but all three would group 2 nice shots at 100 with the 3rd always being a bit of a flyer.

Maybe it was just me....lol.....

Don't own a BLR now..... my .308 Win lever gun is a 1958 vintage Savage Model 99F..........

NAA.

I love BLR's, sadly I do not own any at the moment. All of my lever actions left me in a recent purge.

I am holding out for the day I have money in my pocket and a .358 blr presents itself for my next lever action.

The first BLR I saw was a .243 when they first came out in the late 60's ... the owner of the store told me to mount a scope on it, handed me a box of CIL 100 grain and said to see how it shoots...

it shot 5 shots into about 3/4's of an inch at 100 yards... very impressive.

I like the calibre. I have it in a model 70. Browning has produced some some fine firearms. My daughter has a BAR 30.06 which has killed one moose for her and which I quite like. I've never owned or fired a BLR but have handled a few on occasion and I always found their action a little odd - not smooth in and out like a 94. Anyway that's just me, enjoy your new BLR.

I've owned 6 or 7 so obviosly like them alot.
Especially the original Belgium made BLR's, which I have a mint unfired one,

Also have a lightweight in 358 with rare factory oil finish.

Very accurate with a solid feeling action.

I prefer the straight stock version though.

Only complaint is a heavy trigger..

I love the short action BLR's. No long actions for me, they are big clunkers! I had a 223 and 243, but decided that bolt actions were more suited to those chambering's. Sold my 358 when I finally realised that no hope remained to find wild boars and I didn't care for the extra recoil. I sold that one to a fello exhibitor for $650 and it's been on his tables for $890 for a few years, now! Still have a 257 Roberts and a 7mm-08 and a 308. Those are keepers for sure.

Push hard on the hammer while squeezing the trigger. A couple of times. Seems to make some of them a lot better as if removing some material from the sear, took a few pounds of the triggers of mine

well - 308 blr here
stock winchester cheap ammo
max 1/2 " group @ 100m.

I honestly bought a bunch of reloading supplies when i got this rifle... and have seen no reason to use them other than larger rounds.

but pretty easy just buying boxed 150 grain win @ 1/2 in groups and killing my deer right? no kick no fuss no muss.

best over all rifle ive had yet "for hunting" . and i own plenty its good in a hold / range / close / far(ish) / feels great to shoulder and fast to reload ... and it has a magazine also which is a bonus for a hunting rifle.
