Question - has anybody ever wished they had a firearm other than their hunting rifle while out deer hunting (for the purposes of self defense either while walking or harvesting deer etc) ?
I think bow hunters should be able to carry a side arm. Especially bear hunters. I've finished a few deer off with a knife. One buck had more fight left in him then I thought and I got my left arm ripped out of place. A 22 Lr pistol would be great for capping off the wounded animal
self defense against what or who?

... I was wondering for a few seconds what I was going to do with 2 barrels of ounce & and eight #7 1/2. Still happier with the 12-gauge in my hands than a .22 though.
My wife was a little confused when it came to shooting a deer as against butchering a pig/sheep. She said she wanted the deer halal meaning to her shot and then throat cut instantly (which is a lot easier in a barn stall with a pig). I said in order to do that I would basically have to tackle the deer and cut its throat. She thought about it for awhile and asked if I thought I could do that. I patted her shoulder and said "No honey, a heart shot does the same thing". I am not sure if she believes me.
