I tried out my 357 revolver on Sunday to show my 5 year old nephews how to do it safely. But using a new CO2 cartridge and regular lead .177 pellets, after every shot the action would open up slightly where the cylinder would not cycle and no longer able to shoot. Tried it again today, same CO2 cartridge and NO problem...worked fine. I can't figure it out. Is it possible the CO2 was overcharged , or because of heat, over pressurized? I first thought the locking device was causing the problem, but again, she works fine now.
Any comments...will this happen again?

The rubber sprung latch that your zoomed in on is one of the components that wears out on these revolvers. They can be repaired. Considering what a gunsmith charges per hour and that the new Crossman Vigilante (same action longer barrel) is between $49 and $99 depending where you look. I think if it acts up all the time and your faced with a gunsmith trip, that you might be better off with a new gun. If you are partial to the short barrel you can always save the old one and put it on the new revolver. You might be able to find the part yourself.

scopesandammo.com has the part you need, as well as a seal kit. Good prices and good service. Easy part to replace as well just watch all the springs when you pull the sideplate.

This, it's not a hard part to replace.
You could even make your own if you find a suitable material.
