Steyr SSG08 in Canada?

questar had one in 338 lapua, I'm pretty sure calgary shooting center has one in stock, not cheap but then again tactical 338s are not really cheap niche to get into
 
Basically the chassis, and availability in 338LM. The SSG04 etc only come as big as the 300WM. I was quoted a chassis for my 04 that cost more than my 04.

That's understandable as 338LM wasn't as popular 10+ years ago. Aftermarket chassis for less popular rifles will always be more expensive, HS Chassis for SSG69 is not cheap either and I doubt they sold that many.
 
The 08 chassis seems to get great reviews, lots of adjustments, good build qualityetc. IIRC I was quoted around 5K for just the chassis, I think my 04 was around 4k.
 
What is drawing you towards the ssg08, I'm not to familiar but if you are going for mainly looks you could buy a rifle in whatever calibre you want and drop it in a MDT LSSXL chassis and get close to the same looks of you put the right butt stock and pistol grip. But I'd love to know what is special about the rifle aside from it being a styre and a cool looking gun :)
