The current issue of Guns & Ammo AR-15 magazine has an article on the ARES SCR (Sport Configurable Rifle) that looks interesting ....

It's a 50 state compliant non-pistol grip AR in 5.56mm or 7.62x39mm. The stock looks like that of a semi-auto shotgun and the recoil spring goes down into the butt stock like that on many other guns.

The gun will accept uppers of different makes and AR 15 mags, but you have to swap bolt carriers as well. No forward assist, but an after-market offering is available. Two barrel lengths - 16.5" and 18". MSRP: $799.

Can't wait to see how this rifle gets classified north of the DMZ .....

Easily! It is restricted, as it will take a standard unmodified AR15 upper. (bolt carrier group doesn't matter)

Done deal. Very cool idea for the USofA but here if you want a rifle similar to that, the Benelli MR1 or a Mini 14 are your go-to options.

You just said it is an ar without a pistol grip.

As stated. AR = Restricted.

It's just a different looking fixed stock setup.

Frt 158087. Restricted as an ar15 variant

Got a Mini 14, Tavor and an AR 15. The ARES SCR may be restricted here, but it's going to help out a lot of US shooters.
