I know it's not tacticool....I know it's not 20x power....so this won't appeal to 90% of the CGNers lol
Just a good, clear, durable "Made in Japan" scope for hunting things. I have one on my M85, and probably going to get another one for my Z5.

2-7 is my favourite variable on a deer rifle. That scope is a steal at that price.I would grab another myself but I just grabbed a 3-9x40 elite as WSS a couple weeks ago for $202.My scope to rifle ratio is a little unbalanced right now lol. I need to add a few rifles to even things out.

I will have to check out cabela's, I need a couple hunting, .308 and target / .22 scopes, would that one suffice for a .22, I would think so!
Sale must be over wont even let me see the 2-7!

So what does everyone think of the vortex diamondback for my applications?
I'd go Nikon Prostaff for a 2-7....bright scopes with good glass.
Diamondback is basically Burris F1 equivalent, not bad, but not the best value in that price range.

That vortex warranty is the deal maker for me. Product seems comparable but it's that added factor.

Buy the better product not the warranty.... Leapers, NC Star, BSA all have "lifetime warranties" as well, but they are garbage scopes lol
Every major manufacture has a lifetime warranty these days as well....Nikon, Bushnell, Redfield, Burris....etc.
I just sighted in a 2-7x35 Diamondback on the old man's rifle, it's not a bad scope, but literally like Iooking through a Burris F1...clear, but not really bright. The Nikon P1 is bright and clear...I'd put it on par with the US made Redfield scopes which are quite decent for the price.
Out of all the Philippines made scopes I have, or have tried in the past....Burris, Vortex, Bushnell, Redfield, Nikon...the Nikon's stand out with the brightest clearest glass. I'd still take Japanese or US made over anything else in the <$500 range though, but for <$200 Nikon is the best buy.

I like the diamondback 2-7x, but the eye relief sucks(fine on the .22 now, no good for my 308), and looking at the bushell elite 2-7x specs the eye relief is even worse.

These guys put the prostaff at the bottom. Although I really like my nikon monarch scopes.

Eye relief is one of those numbers that don't mean much unless you can look through the scope. 3" eye relief in a good scope can have a lot of forgiveness to where your eye is placed...ie a bit front/back/high/low/sideways etc and you still get a good sight picture. 4" eye relief with tons of blackout/washout unless you are in the perfect spot behind the scope would much crappier for actual shooting.

ha. That's kind of the point of eye relief. It can be forgiving, but if it requires you to first #### your head way forward in the first place, it's not much help.

I was assuming the scope is mounted correctly initially... If you have to #### your head way forward then its not mounted right in the first place. Scope should have been mounted back more in that situation to begin with.

It was mounted correctly. And mounted as far rear as possibly. I have mounted a couple scopes before.

Maybe as far rear as your current rings/bases will allow, but there are other options that will allow you to mount scopes further back. Your current set up may not be ideal if you require a long eye relief scope to function properly.
My first pick would be a one piece Weaver base which will give much more mounting options.
Next would be extension rings if one piece base isn't your thing.... usually one is plenty but sometimes 2 are required to get it back far enough.
Most serious offenders for these long spaces between rings are Savage rifles and converted Mausers.....the Rem 783 is another bad one with no real reason as the entire top is one solid piece. Could easily have the mounts spaced much closer....

xbolt, not much in the way of bases or extension rings for them, like to keep the scope low to the bore with the factory option and ditching an OK scope for a better one that doesn't require adding a base and changing rings seemed like the smarter choice.

There are 2 piece Weaver bases and extension rings for those, would run about $50 vs buying a new scope...they mount as low or high as any other option. Always better to mount the scope where it works best, that's why I've never liked those fixed turn in type bases and rings as you are limited by the mounting length of your scope.
Xbolt is a bigger action anyway, and I'd probably go 3-9 or 4-12....2-7 would look like a toy on that lol
