Browning 1911 380!!!! Is it the right gun?

Dagmaar, please let me know what you think of it after you've owned and shot it a bit. I was excited to see them come in but I'm a little leery about it after reading some of the reviews.

Browning 1911 .380 ACP.....

It's probably the right gun for the non 12(6) holder who wants a small handgun in a pocket pistol ctg.

can't think of any good reason to buy one, other then if you collected brownings. crappy sights, worse trigger....to small for even small man hands...cartridge that down't really do you any favors in canada, as the recoil, especially in a frame that small is going to feel like 9 mm anyways. Go look for an old colt in 380 if you want a 380, 1000 times the gun...and i'm not a huge colt fan.

Sights on the black labels aren't that terrible for shooting, Other than being plastic, The trigger on my 1911-22 is very respectable so unless the 380 is different it should be fine, and its most definitely not to small for small man hands, Fits my hands perfect, My brother has big hands and he still loved it so I sold him my A1 and bought the black label, Also the 380 is a locked breech action, in the videos I've watched the recoil seems very minimal, I'll be excited for mine to arrive.

Also where are the bad reviews for this gun? none on youtube and a Google search didn't turn up any negative either

My daughter has very small hands so I picked up the 1911-22 for her to shoot and it's a great small pistol that is very reliable and has a very nice trigger. When the 1911-380 came out I thought this would be great for her as it's the same gun that she is already familiar with but with a center fire cartridge. So I bought one. Fired it today for the first time. After 300 rounds I have a bit of a sore finger due to the heavy pull on the trigger but it was very accurate and I quickly adjusted to the stiffness. Yes, the sights are plastic but much better than the 1911-22. Sadly, I'm not so sure that my daughter will be able to shoot this pistol with any accuracy with that stiff trigger so it might end up being a novelty gun that I only shoot from time to time. It is a very light gun but it's being marketed as a CCW in the States and an all steel version would be much heavier and less appealing for the purpose of CC. I'm not sure if it was the ammo I was using (Remington UMC bulk) but I had my fair share of failure to feed. Not horrible but far more than I've had with any other pistol I own including my Norinco 1911. I'm not terribly disappointed that I bought it but I'm also not excited about it either.

If you pm me I'll definitely do that Scott . I'm still waiting for it as I preordered it from a site sponsor and it's not in yet .

Might as well get a rebarreled Makarov PM.

Restricted makarovs can still be found in 9x18 ..... Don't see anyone carrying the round though. While .380 might be more expensive than 9mm, it seems to be easily found. If someone needs a smaller pistol for whatever reason (small hands, etc), the browning seems to be a reasonable choice.

Mine should be here Monday or Tuesday, I'll try and get a review going fairly fast, I only have one type of ammo so that's a downside, but I'll pick up some other types for down the road

Well I got it today, Fairly Impressed as it only shipped on friday, Only gripe so far is I dont like skinnier plastic grips, So I ordered a few new sets. Here it is with the 1911-22 grips and it switched around. Hope to get more mags when they become available too.

They used to be offered in .380. Not sure if they still are or who might carry them, though.

Where'd you get it from ?

Where'd you get it from ?

You know where Dagmaar, I thought of you after they called me, I went back and looked through the thread and it looked like I ordered a little ways before you. They said they didn't get the whole shipment yet so I imagine yours isn't far behind. Sorry!

Omg , I was wondering if they'd ever get here ! Well , good to know you got yours as some folks decided to say screw it and cancelled their orders and buy one elsewhere . I hope that call comes soon , summer isn't all that long and I'd like to get the damn thing and use it a bit before winter . They said there would be lots and lots of magazines available , is that still true ?
It looks very sweet ! Definitely much better with the wood grips . I hope to order some , if not I'll put my Black Label .22 ones on the 380 , they would look great !
Go shoot it ! I'm dying to get a full report on it !

Also , did it come with two mags , like it does in the States ?

Maybe call them tomorrow and see, you never know! And only one mag, More should be coming soon, I need atleast 7.
Its alot heavier than the 22, And to be honest the skinny plastic grips completely wreck the feel of the gun, I definitely suggest putting your other ones on until more grip options become available.
I can see why some people would hate the 1911-22 if it had the pastic grips.
Hopefully I'll get it out tomorrow weather permitting.
