Magpul SL handguard on a Norinco CQA

Yup seems that way, Norc just does things differently. Despite that I've had very few problems with installing parts on the Norc and even with the extra money spent on a new ring, gun smithing etc I'm still well below the money I would have spent elsewhere. Of course you can argue if I spent more I would have a better gun and no problems installing parts but considering it's my first purchase the extra money saved allowed me to buy everything else I need for startup such as glasses, ear protection, and other range items.
 
It is much easier to just dremel the handguard to make it fit. When I have some time I will photo the spots I had to cut.
 
I bought one of the DA 5.56 rifles last winter from Canada Ammo . I also bought some M-16A2 hand guards ,thinking they would just pop on there with noooo problems . I was wrong - there's extensive grinding involved , and today I burned out my wannabe Dremel .

It's a Jobmate brand grinder , and it got super hot , smelled like burning plastic and then slowed down so much , it stopped . Then smoke began pouring out of it.

I still haven't finished grinding those hand guards.

Bought a Dremel 3000 . Made a big mess , but eventually........



Still needs a bit of cleaning up , but way better than the original Norinco hand guards .

Yeah its the SL guard on a 10.5 with the heavier barrel that gave me problems.
Ive mounted other handguards on Norincos, including MOE guards no prob.

Did you Dremel the Moe guards on both ends? the bottom guard, near the front, did you just file a rounder circle or grind it a little shorter too?

Old thread but I'm buying the Magpul SL MOE guard to put on the 14.5 Norinco. Any chance you still have the pics for spots you had to cut?
