Stripped lowers

Oh get off your goddamn high-horse. Money talks, and if the product is 50% less than anywhere else and doesn't need to be shipped, I don't care who is selling it.

i disagree completely, swiss arms owners would disagree as well, who knows maybe next time he's competing with another store and losing commercially he'll get another firearm banned, maybe next time itll be a firearm that you own, who knows, I for one never got any firearms banned for thousands of owners...

A lot of you here have been giving this guy a free pass, or singing let it be, or the past is the past, why? Not like Im attacking him, just not giving him my money, thats really very little compared to what he's done to all of us.

I cant say exactly what I think, because Ill get banned, but frankly he should hide under a rock and come back out in public in 15-20 years.

My upper and lower are both Aero Precision. They fit together perfectly. No AccuWedge needed. No wobble. Passes the $5 bill test easily.

The rear pin detent is secured with a 4-40 set screw. I think they should have used a slightly larger screw because 4-40 set screws use 0.050" allen keys which are not included in standard sets, nor is the set screw included. I had to get Fastenal to order in a bag of 100 for all of $6 and had to buy a microhex set from Wiha for $9. I can't think why the safety detent isn't secured in the same way.

And he could give me the parts for free, I would not do business with JR. I don't do business with people I don't respect.

Set screws? Usually the rear pin detent ball and spring are held in place by the buffer plate and castle nut or in the case of NEA lowers it's held by the pistol grip which also holds the safety detent ball and spring.

I've been tempted to buy an Aero lower but they're always sold out of the pew-pew-pew marked ones. I suppose I'd also have to buy a matching upper and do another build :)

A little wobble or a gap doesn't hurt anything but it is definitely nice when everything fits perfectly. Good to hear the Aero uppers and lowers fit so nicely.
I wish I'd heard about the Questar deal on Spikes lowers for $109, I would have grabbed one, I've always liked them.
I've got 3 lowers and 4 uppers now so another lower wouldn't be a bad thing :)

ATRS does this as well with their lower, the spring and detent for the rear take down pin and safety are all captured into the lower with set screws. It's nice taking a grip or buffer tube off without having a spring fly out.

That is a nice feature, I've had a spring or two go flying over the years then end up crawling around under my desk in the gun room with a flashlight trying to find it for 30 min :(
Are all Aero lowers like that? I thought they were just milspec lowers the same as every other forged lower. Might have to give them a try on my next build.

Here's a few pics of my very-nearly-completed build using: AP stripped upper/lower with an AIM nitrided BCG, Colt barrel and bits, Minimalist stock. Still waiting on handguards to arrive. All in, less than $700 because of parts I had in the US.

And the hex keys: note that the largest key in this set is also the smallest key in standard sets:

I understand the difference between forged and billet, but ATRS lower is $550. Aero Precision is $130.
