Can't aim with bushnell AR Optics 1x MP

Hi all,

I know that this is going to sound extremely noob, I can't aim at the targets at the range with this scope @ 100yards.

I must start by saying that this is my first scope purchase that was meant for my AR15. My AR15 has always been iron sights, and I have been very used to using the irons.

My friend mentioned that I should finally "move up" to a tactical scope for my needs.

So I went out and bought this scope, for the tactical component.

I guess my problem is that I am not used to the red/green dot "moving around" when my head moves on the cheek rest. Feels kinda weird that the dot doesn't just just stay centred in the middle of the lens. Do I still need my front iron sight with this scope?

Guy at the store swears by it, for instant target acquisition while moving around, but the dot is far from centred and moves around in the scope while I move side to side.

Salesman called it a electronic scope, no idea what that means, maybe I got sold the wrong scope totally instead.

How do I get used to this scope?

I love my red dot reflex on my AR. I used a laser bore sight, matched that red dot on the target to the red dot sight, and never looked back. Put the red dot on the bullseye, and it is only off because I shake!!! Lol.

Sounds like something that I just have to get used to.

Was just reading on another site that I have to keep both eyes open to target properly???

Wow, just learned something new, I will keep both eyes open next time I am at the range.

I am trying to decrease my re-acquiring target times between shots, and I having a really hard time my first time out with this setup, trying to use iron setup on a red dot setup is obviously not the same.

Definitely looking forward to the next range visit.

And as I can see from kschneider's picture, don't need the front sight either

important thing with red-dot sights is to get your head in the same position every time for consistent sighting

no no no no, thats not true with authentic serious red dots. i.e. aimpoint, elcan, eotechs, trijicons, vertex, etc.

parallax free sights are not affected by the position of the cheek weld. dot will show poi no matter where your head is at, if zeroed correctly, otherwise what the hell is the point!

fake chinese crap, sold at 90% mark up, well...

This is correct! RDS are not traditional cross hair reticle sights. You can use your dominant eye if you are not moving and shooting for max accuracy. But in a match, moving situation, keep both eyes open and look "through" the scope, not at it. As long as your gun is properly sighted in, just put the dot on target and squeeze away, you will hit close to where you are aimed. Don't worry about not being centered. That's the beauty of these sights!

100% on all counts. Parallax fee , this is the entire point of RDS at close range
 
Probably the biggest advantage of a red dot is that you don't have to center the dot to get a hit - as the guys have said, if you can see the dot on the target, pull the trigger. With red dots - see the target as your primary focus, be aware of the dot in your field of view, when the dot is on the target regardless of it's location in the tube, you're good.
