Falcon 4-14ffp ir thoughts

Its been working well on a 6,5x55 for a while. Turrets very accurate to 600 yards but little dark.
Its now on a 22lr.

Waranty is not transferable.

For not much more, in used a 6500 tactical 2.5-16x42 would be a way better scope.
 
Have a non IR 4-14FFP. Nice little scope for a .22LR. Wouldn't use it on a centerfire. Have had seen too many go down on a centerfire.
 
Loved the first one I had, so I bought a second one. Had it on my .308 until the focus knob fell off. Thought maybe I just got a lemon, so I tried one more. The variable power ring let go, and wouldn't catch anymore. From what I've found warranty is difficult, and I just gave up, so I'm looking at a loss no matter what. It's a shame because I really like their reticle. I'm disappointed because for $500 I would expect a bit more. I've since gone to the Vortex Vipers. They are in the same price range. Are they FFP-no. Do they have the same reticle choices-no. But they do have a bullet-proof warrantee and I am confident that I have spent my money on a quality product that I can depend on. It's truly up to you what you choose, and you may get a good one that never has a problem, but I won't be risking my hard earned money on another Falcon
 
Hmmm thanks guys. I figured if most responses were positive I'd get one but I found a nice gently used 6500 for a few dollars more. I'd love me some FFP again but the next step is basically a Burris Veracity or a Sightron S3. Just don't have the coin for that yet.
 
I have 3 different models, and I really like them for their budget value. They are not a premium brand but I still think you get value for money. Glass is reasonably bright, and I very much like the turrets.

Sub $500 they are hard to beat for a new scope, after that there are others that probably are better.

For all the options that come on these scopes for the price, yes they are good. That bieng said, all the options are at the bottom of the spectrum. Big tactical knobs... but really mush clicks. Lots of adjustment...but not always repeatable. Side paralax adjustment... but hard to get perfect and in focus at distance. Mil retical glass... gets a bit dark and hazy on higher powers. I still have have a 5.5-25 that I will never sell, bought used for a good price and its a good work horse scope, never afraid to abuse it, its gotten me out to 1000m.

Mine was SFP, although I doubt that affected my experience with it. Failed; let me down. A second FM of a different model also failed. Wouldn't touch another one with someone else's 10 foot pole.
 
I have a FM 5.5-25x50 mil/mil FFP.

I bought it after watching the sniper 101 series on YouTube. It was the least expensive " decent scope" that I could afford.... It's currently sitting atop my 10TR. I have had it for a few years, but really only got to stretch it out this past spring.

The glass is sub par, but I was still able to see well enough to hit at 1040y. The turrets were dead nuts on with my range card, if it said 5.4 mil to hit at 640, I dialled it and then hit at 640, I dialled in for 800..... And hit 800!

The only fly in the ointment was the 0moa base..... I had to hold over 5 mils to hit at 1040. Which was fine, but a max mag, you can only see 5.2 miles on the hold over reticle. So then you have to dial back the mag, but then the reticle is a bit smallish.... And if you're holding off for wind drift, it gets a bit difficult!

Then first business day after the shoot, I was at the LGS buying a 20 Moa base....... With should get me on target at 1040 with-out hold over..... Next shoot I am able to attend will be Sept.

I am currently looking at a Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP EBR-2. It's is much better glass, but priced 50% more than the Falcon Menace..... I have a 243imp that needs some glass, switching one scope between 2 rifles is getting a bit old!
