New gun, needs to go to the lab for classification. Different manufacture, different calibre, new FRT required by the lab. Don't believe for a second it can ride on the coat tails of the GSG STG44. The system doesn't work that way. As it hasn't yet been released, there is no chance that one has made it into Canada and been sent off for classification.

Totally. Not sure why someone won't make one if the original calibre, with maybe a few off shoot calibres for those that what a modern round. I know the BD44 and BD42 are out there, but they have some reliability issues apparently and the cost is pretty high.
website says it will be in original 7.92x33 kurz. Perhaps taking original mags as well? That would be interesting.
Besides, I wouldn't overly mind an STG in 5.56 as 8mm kurz is a pain to find. Especially if I could get one with a 18.6" barrel.

Other than people will buy it. Someone will. There have been a lot worse designs that have sold enough to make money.
And just what guns do you consider worth making? It's just another range toy, a nice companion piece for the newly announced .22 LR version of the Stg44. Don't like them - don't buy them!
That remark reminds me of the attitude of many good ol' boys back in the day when we were struggling to get "Combat Pistol Shooting" going. The trap shooters and gentlemen of the regimental tie were the first to decry civilians shooting from the leather as the beginnings of the end of the world as we know it. These guys can break 100 straight with a 12 ga trap load and the others hit a man sized target at 1000 yards and considered us dangerous with a .45 ACP shooting out to 50 yards.
