How long do tumbers usually last? I think mine just pooched. it turns on but at maybe 15% of what it supposed to. had it maybe 3 1/2 years of mild use.

is it worth cracking open to see whats up inside or just chuck it and get a new one?

also, what tumber will last for a long time that wont break and works well? 10+ years preferably.

Check to make sure bolts/nuts etc haven't shaken loose. It is out of warranty so open it up if you want maybe something obvious. My Hornady has been running a long time with no issues.

I have a Frankford tumbler and it has broken down twice since 2008. The first time it was just one of the connectors came loose. The second time it was the coil connection.
In both instances it was a 10 minute fix.
I have logged 4 hours a week on it since new so that works out to about 1456 hours of run time so far.

good info, thanks. ill play around with mine. thats a good idea logging time. but im way too busy to do that. ill just run mine as many hours as the brass needs.

my Lyman 2200 is a few year sold,,but runs almost 24 hours a day for weeks at a time,,,probably went through about 500,000 cases,,and is still works like new,,dont use it as much anymore after getting a stainless pins tumbler,,

Took apart the frankford tumbler. this tumbler shouldnt have made it through quality control. the electrical cord [extension] was pinched by the plastic of the housing mount. The motor wasent mounted properly either which caused the pinch to the wire. it should have been a huge red flag when the monkey who put it together who would have seen not all 4 hex nuts not sunk in all the way.

Im not sure if a pinched electrical wire would cause this thing to only work at 15% though. Not sure where I can get a replacement wire for this thing. Ill try to strip some of the cord back and try to get it working.

what a pain.
