New Mossberg 500 question

Hi all, just bought a new mossy 500 2 barrel field combo and notice on the 28" vent rib barrel when you look inside it I can see where the ribs have been welded , its either discoloration or actually bumps inside all the way down, just wondering if anyone has seen this before, maybe it's just a Mossberg barrel thing, I have shot it, shoots good.

I just bought a 3 barrel combo. Neither of the barrels with vent ribs have what you're describing.

Probably caused from spot welding/heating the rib base attachment.

Okay I took it back to cabelas and grabbed a Winchester sxp field and camp combo, so glad I did, really nice shotgun, fit and finish is miles above the mossy...

Yes, I have that on my Mossberg 500 2 barrel-combo 28" barrel...it's real bumps...I don't think it matters, as shotties are NOT rifles....and the price was really good ($325) for the whole thing.

Ya it probably is fine but I feel the workmanship could be better, even on a cheaper u.s made gun. I picked up a Winchester sxp instead, the bore looks like glass, whole fit & finish is much nicer and it shoots flawless. That was actually the second Mossberg I had taken back, the first one had Shell stop issues, wouldn't cycle properly.

Glad to hear that Cabela' has a return period. Last gun I bought from SAIL they told me "All sales final, deal with manufacturer" Will never buy a gun from them again.

The gun was an SXP Waterfowler, the Camo was peeling off when I took it apart to clean after using it for opening weekend last year. Still waiting to get a replacement!

The SXP barrel is ###y because it s chrome lined. It's the outside finish that I am not crazy about. I also have the Field model, I find the finish scratches easy.
