Not sure, he fired off the same recipe before without any issues. Today he had reloads with 4064 and cfe223 . The 4064 worked fine. We're going to check the remaining loads out as soon as we get home.headspace?
Possible , can we tell if we check remains loads? If they are reloads, could the primer be coming out due to a lose primer pocket?
he only used 35.7 CFE , which is mid range according to our Hormady manual. He didn't just reload both cartridges with the same amount of 2 different powders.22-250 55 gr

almost 3 full grains of powder difference in 223 cfc & 4064 3 grains more than max will surely make bolt lift hard and blow primers out and your in major over pressures

Found the problem. We pulled one apart and weighed the charge. It was 3.2 g over max.The scale is a rCBS 505 scale. I've used it plenty and although I do have to re zero it every time I use it I haven't had any problems. My buddy said he was sure of the chargeI would pull a few bullets and double check charge weights on a known good scale. Sticky bearings on a balance beam can cause over charges, a faulty electronic scale can be just as dangerous.

, so maybe it got stuck or something .
YesSo it was excessive pressure after all. At least you know what excessive pressure signs look like now.
