I need to replace a couple of tritium tubes on my guns. Does anyone know where I can get them here in Canada? Also is there a correct way to remove the old tube? My buddy just drilled out his
and glued in the new ones. Before some says to ask my buddy where he got his from. His were
given to him by his brother in law when he visited his sister in St.Lois.

Yah he is one of those guys when something needs to be done he just goes ahead and does it to the best of his abilities. Thats one of the reasons we love the guy. But often times he just doesn't think of the consiquence . This leads to having to correct t his errors often times it expensive.that's the reason we hate him.

It's a Colt 1911 that's done up the way I wanted. I try to change as little as possible when guns are set up and running well. But replacing the front sight will probebly be what I end up doing.

It's very likely that the area he did the drilling in as well as the drill bit and the drill itself has some of the remains of that stuff still in it. I don't think I'm being a safety nazi when I suggest that some really good cleaning of the area would be wise. And likely done with disposable gloves, coveralls and even a really good fitting disposable mask. This stuff does not go away easily. And while it's around it is a perfect example of the "gift that keeps on giving". It's not like it's toxic in a day or two. It's the long term effects that add up and get you a few years down the road. And by "few" I'm talking the short term view of "few". Not the long term "something else will get you first" sort of "few".

Because of the potential issues on handling these little glass capsules I'd strongly suggest that you just buy a new sight of the same brand and specs.

I originally asked this question because I recall some one on here mentioned he use to buy these vials and had them all over his room . So I was going to source them and see what was involved with the change. But it's obviously lot less hassle to just change out the front sight. The rear sight is a diff issue it is a Bomar adjustable.out if business/ not made anymore.
I guess I will just leave them as is since the tubes do not glow anymore?

SRB Technologies Inc. is based in Canada. There are watch companies that buy tritium from them but strangely enough, these watch companies never disclose the source of the tubes as being from SRB Tech. Inc

Go on some of the candle power (flashlight) forums. There are a few people that sell them for key fobs and the like. There is so little radioactive material that they aren't even considered hazmat and can be mailed. I got some from Singapore (if I remember coprrectly)
