Maverick 88 pump release mod?

I've been wondering if it's possible/legal to remove or otherwise dissengage the pump release from a mav 88. Any experience here would be appreciated. Thanks.
 
How do you plan on opening the chamber without pulling the trigger?

What will you do when someone calls a ceasefire when your gun is loaded?

1) Wouldn't I pump the shotgun? Just without holding the little button behind the trigger guard.

2) Wouldn't I just push the safety & pump the loaded shell out?

I could be mistaken about all of that. But that is why I'm asking.

Ok. So I'm guessing that down on the range, people would like me to push a button for the first pump of my shotgun? I don't shoot there, but I'm not trying to be difficult about this either. Do either of you care to expand on those answers?
 
If you mean having a "free moving" action i guess you could call it, I don't think that's possible.. but im not a gunsmith so i could be wrong.

Just out of curiosity why would you want to remove it anyways? Wouldn't it be better to have no chance of the action moving unless you pressed the button?
 
Ok. Thank you. This didn't occur to me. If my shells are in the mag tube & I want to pump one into the chamber, i must hold the button behind and above the trigger guard. I felt that maybe it it was like the bolt release lock on a 10/22 which can be removed for ease of function.
 
you are part right ,but if you close the action the only way to open it other then pulling the trigger is with the action release button ,so if you have your gun loaded and you have had enough the only way you will be able to unload it will be to shoot it with out the release button ,not a good idea to remove it as it locks the action tight well you shot it ,,Dutch

Under normal circumstances, while you are shooting, you shouldn't even notice it.

The pump releases automatically when you pull the trigger. Shoot, pump, shoot, pump, etc.

The only time when you need that release switch is when you want to open the action without shooting.

Let's say someone calls for a ceasefire right when you are about to shoot.
Now you can push in that little button, pump the action a bunch of times, and set the gun down unloaded.
That's when you'll use it most often.
