Low end pilla or decot glasses?

Not in any rush to buy. Just getting a feel for what I'll spend and what seems to work for others. I have been considering the decot revel. I've also been looking into the pilla 500 series glasses
 
I shot Rangers for a lot of years and they worked fine.

I currently have a 5 lens set of Pillas. They are nice. Are they worth the extra money? Probably not.

Glasses are glasses. They aren't going to break more targets for you. Get whatever makes you most happy.

From what I can tell the Pillas are a wrap around style with an RX insert? Is that so? How do you like them compared to a traditional style frame?
 
I shot with Decot RX lenses for many years. I now shoot with the Pilla Magnetos and contact lenses. There is no comparison between the two, as the Pillas are far superior to the Decots. I'm a one eyed shooter and the visibility that I gained from the wraparound visor is significant, as well as the quality and improved way that the targets seem to pop and highlight the colour. The VIVX lenses are amazing. It boils down to whether or not you can afford them, or as my Dad would say, you have more money than brains ....

No RX insert for me. Those models do exist. Some people like them, others don't. I guess the trick with the insert is to make sure you can see properly throughout the entire lens.

I shoot with a dot, so the biggest challenge was going from the flat Rangers to the wrap around Pillas. Had to use a smaller dot to get the same amount of 'blockage' and I had a hell of a time getting it in the right place.
 
I had the Randolph XLW style. I thought they were OK. Then I tried on a pair of All American Shootign Glasses made by L and M Lenses. Best frames and clearest lenses I have ever tried. I like them a lot. Lots of colours to choose from. Mike is a great guy to deal with.

As mentioned before..
For the money, I believe the Randolph Edge glasses are the best bang for the buck. I truly enjoy shooting with them.
But if the budget allows, then Pillas are the Perazzis of glasses :)
 
I had some Ranger's with Prescription lenses. Every time my Rx changes, lenses were $300, and up. So I switched to
contact lenses, and bought Pilla glasses with the Max Orange kit, the best thing I've ever done. The glasses are spectacular,
and those Zeiss lenses are unbelievable.
 
Regarding Pilla's...

Panther X6 / X7's come in a Post version that accepts an adjustable height Rx Insert

Outlaw X6 / X7's require an insert that fits into the brow bar.

540's are Base curve 4 (dual lens) so can meet most prescriptive needs

580's are Base curve 8 (dual lens) so can meet up to a 2.25 index. any higher you would need to move to a lower base curve frame

Sebring , Tomcat and HOrnet are Base curve 6 (dual Lens), which can meet up to a 3.25 index. any higher you would need to move to a lower base curve frame like the 540

560's do not take an Rx.

If you are a person who is sensitive to base curve in your Rx, i highly suggest that you get your optician dispenser to work with you and Frames/Insert to see if a compensated Rx is needed.

Dr. Barry Nolt in Edmonton is well known for this (as he is a shooter as well as an optician).

and Pilla's, and haven't looked back. I don't care how great your gun is, or whether you spend $100,
a flat for shells, if you can't see perfectly you are wasting your time.

Might as well plug my used Randolph Falcons in the EE. Someone looking for high end glasses is going to save a lot of money and time.
 
I ended up going with Pilla outlaw x6 and I agree with above 100%. Glasses are more important then most give credit. I have a friend shooting Olympic skeet and he said something that stuck with me. He said everything I can control put it in my favor weather it is a proper fitting gun shells you have confidence in or shooting glasses to see the best!

Wow! The optician I go to charges $160 for new prescription lenses for my Rangers.
 
Anyone used the All American? I am thinking a multi lens kit from them.

I have had a wtb but no luck. Would look at Decots as well, but I think the wrap around for skeet is pretty important. Lots of preiph vision required for middle stations!

Try Post 4 Optics. Had good experience with them and owner Mike Renard. I sent him my prescription and a week later I was wearing them.

Lens color is critical.
