I also own both G17 Gen 4 and the HK P30L. It is always going to come down to personal preference as neither one will let you down. I love my Glock but I shoot the P30L better ...and its a great looking gun ;)
 
And you call yourself a stainless fan. Kidn' round of course, to each his own. Thinkin' on sticking to my Sigs though.

Don't get a Glock, they are low rent, dime a dozen. Everyone has a Glock, even Wendy:p Seriously what's your budget? Are you stuck on 9mm? How about a P210 or a 1911 platform? Les Baer, STI? Get something you will be proud.

With GLOCK prices nearing the ridiculous, I would tend to agree.
 
All the options you list are for polymer guns. Two are striker fired and one is hammer fired. But you've only actually held and shot the H&K which is a hammer fired polymer gun.

You need to find a way to handle an shoot a few other guns to get more of a feel for what feels "right" in your hands. When I started out I was lucky enough to have a commercial rental range nearby (DVC in Coquitlam BC). After trying a dozen or so various 9mm guns I quickly found that the ones I preferred were the all metal guns for balance and feel in my hands. I also found that I preferred the feel of the triggers on the hammer fired guns over the internal striker fired guns. For me both the weight and balance feel of the poly lower guns vs the all metal guns was a night and day difference in preference. And similarly the feel of the hammer fired triggers to striker fired triggers was also very different and I found I far and away preferred the feel of the hammer fired triggers.

I've also got fairly big hands so at the time it was coming down to a short list of either an IWI Jericho or a Beretta 92fs. Then along came the chance to shoot a CZ Shadow..... and that ended up being my first gun by a clear margin over all the rest. I've shot a lot of the other guns on and off since then and never found a single bit of regret over my choice. I've since owned and sold the "other" choice Beretta 92 and added two 1911's chambered in 9mm. I've also increased my CZ "collection" with a nice condition older pre-b model 75. Other guns may come and go but those two CZ's are staying until I'm too old and blind to shoot any sort of handgun any longer.

Now I'm not saying that the CZ is the one for you. I'm saying that you need to find a way to try a few other guns with these polymer vs metal and hammer vs striker issues in mind. On top of that you'll also get to figure out which guns fit your hands well.
 
My first handgun was also a PPQ M1, I really liked the gun and it never gave me any sign of a problem and anyone else who tried it liked it as well.

However since I can really not afford multiple guns in the same caliber I have sold my PPQ and bought a CZ 75B off of the EE.

I have shot a few different CZ variants and for me the CZ just seems to improve my accuracy which may be due to the heavier mass, not sure if that is the case but that is what I suspect.

Let's be honest....guns are like women, so many to choose from and so little time.....and money!! :)
 
I would just like to say, thanks to all for your advise and suggestions. I now have the CZ and possibly a 1911 in 9mm to consider. I will also check out the EE site. I am going to stay with a 9mm, 45"s are my cup of tea. When I make my choice, I will post a pic. Thanks again
 
I'm a 1911 guy. That being said for 9mm I fell in love with the CZ Shadow, which ultimately made me sell the 9mm 1911s.

That being said the 1911 isn't a slouch, and a commander size 9mm has good feel.

If you look at CZ, look ONLY at models with Shadow in the name. I also have an 85Combat and it's a tack driver, but the trigger is ghastly and will require work, whereas my Shadow out of the box bests any stock 1911 that I've ever shot, and that's high praise.

Hey Falcon45, I'm a newbie myself and just bought my very first pistol. I have shot the M&P 9, a Glock 17, and a Glock 34 so far.

However, I ended up going with the Walther PPQ M2 Navy after handling it when I went to Bullseye London. Although I have never shot it (which might be a mistake), it seems that the PPQ generally gets good reviews. What really sold me on it was how it felt in my hand. The gun just felt perfect in my hands. Can't wait to shoot it though!
 
While I have a Glock 17, all the guns listed above are excellent, and it really comes down to personal preference. There's no substitute for handling them in person, and ideally shooting them. I wish shopping for guns was like shopping for cars. Test drives help a lot. Buying based on pictures and someone else's impressions is a leap of faith.
The Walther PPQ, Sig P320, HK VP9 are all top notch guns. If I had the money, space and time, I'd get them all.
 
Benito is bang on, no pun intended. I have Glocks, an Ed Brown 1911, M&P 9, numerous revolvers and a CZ SP01 Shadowline 9mm. Each one is different to shoot, you have to try them out and some definitely suit you better than others. I am absolutely far more accurate and feel the most comfortable with my CZ, it is a fabulous hand gun (for me).
 
I have many "working" 9mms... I also have many "collectible" 9mms that rarely see the range. Over the years I've also had (and sold) Sigs, H&Ks, and a CZ Shadow SP-01 (nice, but frankly the trigger on my Pre-B CZ75 is nicer!). I've also done a fair bit of shooting with my friend's XDM.

My pre-B CZ75 is my most accurate 9mm. That said, my Glock 17 saw faaaaaaaar more use until it was recently supplanted by my PPQ M1 (Thanks Miaugi!). There is something to be said for the inherent accuracy of metal pistols, but IMHO the polymer is easier to carry and care for.

Of the list you provided I would certainly vote for the PPQ. The ergonomics are excellent, the trigger is very good, and they are very accurate tupperware pistols!

What do you think of Steyr L9s? I heard they were good guns?
