I have an FN SPR A5M with 20' barrel in 308, and I am shopping for a good quality, reliable, all around scope. I narrowed down my choices to Nightforce, Schmidt and Bender, US Optics, and Vortex. Now I know that some of you will say "take down Vortex from the line of my choice as it is not comparable to the other three", but I have also heard people say great things about Vortex and for their warranty.

I am a bit flexible on the budget, but I rather not go beyond $3000 (tax not included). I am looking for a keeper that I plan to keep for a long time, and I thought buy once cry once for a great quality optic.

My purpose is for long and shorter distance sniping, and for zombie out break LMAO
Also, which type of reticles that would you recommend and why?

S&B are the row model but i like my NF and my Sightron to, for serious shooting i will not be caught with anything else than a S&B but at the end chosing a top shelf optic is very confusing since they are extremly well made all of them...
A justified personal choice... JP.

S&B PMii is an optic you keep forever unless you run into $ problems down the road. If you have the coin, I highly recommend them.

Narrow down the features you want and/or need and then see what is possible. Not all manf make all possible outcomes.

At the high end of the optics market, it is features and details that really decide "good or not". Add the Sightron SIII and SVSS to your list of options.

I have reviews of the SVSS against the top tier competition high mags scopes... Might prove helpful.

When I get a moment, I will publish my thoughts on the newest Vortex Razor... the Sightrons are better.

Why you think so? Why you recommended this particular model?

The S&B PMll is the one used by law enforcement or soldier ( at least it was ), many good scope for les money but if you mount one on one of your rifle, it will stay there forever, and if your budget permit it, your next rifle to will get one attribuated to it...
They are keepers for life and one is not enough... JP.

The PMii is a line of scopes with a variety of models to suit different needs. The glass is as clear as it gets, the tracking and mechanics are very robust, reliable and repeatable. The controls are very user friendly, their double turn drum system is a joy to use.

Anyways everyone is going to talk up their favorite brand, but S&B and NF have a proven track record for reliability and are in service around the world. Reliability is just as important as glass quality and these two have both.

check out snipershide.
one of their members has an ongoing scope test with ALL of the highend brands and gives an honest review of the performance. Some surprising bad results there

Drop vortex from your list, they don't even play the same game as the others mentioned here let alone be mentioned in the same league. The 1000.00 dollar models are priced 700.00 too high. They look to be decent, feels good, and have great glass, but internals are total crap, I haven't heard of a razor model failing, but wouldn't waste my time checking one out. Instead add brands like Sightron, Khales, US optics, Tangent Theta, Leupold Mark 4 to your considerations. Each brand will have failure at some point, as they are man made, but you won't have been dupped into vortex warranty system. There is a reason its hassle free... They can produce 10 for every one they sell and won't loose money. I played thier game and won't bother again. That being said, I do like thier spotting scopes.... Not to much to fail there and have great glass. Check out sniper 101 optics review on YouTube, rex gives a pretty good rundown on glass.

Lots of info here and better reviews than from fanboys and dealers on CGN. :)

The correct answer.

Read reviews from those who aren't biased and know what they are talking about.

People will always have opinions, often incorrect.

Factor in costs too. Comparing an NSX with a Kahles is silly, but considering the costs things can sometimes change.

Guess someone forgot to tell that to the guys competing for $5000 cash and a $13,000 rifle system:

While I love these statistics, some of which has to be played in with marketing.

That being said, the best of the best don't accept just any offer. They have choices.

I remember when they started posting these statistics and it sure made a few people back down on their rants against certain brands.

These are the most rigorous matches out there. They're know for punishing equipment, and the stats are from those who make it to the finals only. If a scope can compete at that level, it says something about it's robustness. If you don't see scopes that are common making it into the stats, there's a reason for it.

I dont really mind being called a fanboy, i am a real fan of these S&B, the first one i bought showed me the way, here is a few that belong to their respective 308 rifle... JP.

Do we really need to dig up your old posts, Caramel?

We're not saying the S&B are bad scopes. Look at the information posted.
