is there a 'best' Glock?

To me the difference is night and day in regards to how the pistol feels in the front end. If I close my eyes and pick up one off of a table I can tell you instantly if I'm holding a gen 3 or 4. Maybe I've lost my mind but it was a big enough difference for me to stay with a gen 3.

The texture is drastically different between a gen 3 and gen 4 so it's not difficult to determine which you've grabbed.... Just saying.

Just to add to above comment.........different recoil assembly is more robust & is "said" to reduce felt recoil. The larger mag release can also be switched over to better accomodate a LH shooter.
It has a few extra features, like backstraps, beavertail backstrap and a different recoil assembly. Larger mag release also. Same function, same reliability in my opinion.

Most left handed shooters have become so accustomed to the left side release that switching it means relearning their mechanics..

Boy do I love Glocks. I can't get enough of them. Just recently I had one of my greatest wishes come true. I was given a Glock 18 Gen 3 to play with. What an experience just to hold one of these in your hand, field strip it and closely examine the slide and the selector switch mechanism. It's beefier that's for sure. The slide rails are slightly higher and more robust then your standard Glock. What a thrill. It only lasted for about 30 minutes though.
