I've got a second 870 that I'm planning to send off to Casey once I figure out what I want.

Anyway to you guys with Tacord 870s, how much did the action bar polish and TiN plating improve the action, and if you've got it, do you find the opened up loading port helpful?

Polishing the action always makes a difference & the TIN plating improves the lubriticity period, personal my loading port was not opened / as such I cannot comment...

Can you give me a rough idea of what how your action was before and after?

The gun I'm sending is awful, so rough it'll never smooth out on its own. Anything would be an improvement but I want slick.

If I go for the loading port job I'll need to get it refini$hed, so I won't go there unless its as big of an improvement as the port jobbed Benelli semis I've tried.

I just received 18" 870 built by Casey in very burnt bronze as he called it :). Everything done except opening the loading port.

This gun is incredibly smooth and I have yet to fire a single round through.

Get it. You'll LOVE IT.

Sounds good!

If I do get it refinished, I can't decide whether to go Cerakote or Nitron?

I'm somewhat leaning towards Nitron but Casey doesn't do it so there's the hassle of sending it out again.

Why would you choose to Nitron vs Cerakote??

Nitron's tougher and I have experience with it whereas I don't with Cerakote.

Very nice guns BTW, the burnt bronze especially!

I have seen hard use firearms (military & police ) treated with Cerakote provide amazing corrosion / impact protection...

No doubt it comes highly recommended, but its tough to beat nitrocarburizing for a utility finish.

Casey does top notch work. Had the pleasure of meeting with him many times dealing with my guns, and he is one of the best there is for workmanship and making sure you understand what you are actually paying for.

I still can't decide whether or not to go Vang Comp or not and as to what the furniture configuration will be?

Currently it wears a Hogue short stock and Speedfeed forend.

A recent shoulder injury makes it uncomfortable to keep the thing shouldered "square" for long periods with the short stock so the it'll have to go and then I might have to swap the forend for something longer to make up for the greater reach distance.

I might go pistol grip this time, either the Mesa Urbino or the LEO stock.

Wow Paul & Gadget they look awesome.

It's frikin hard to find anyone to do custom work now. I mean one of stuff.

Was talking to TacOrd about some custom work on my Mossy a while back.

Well it's official.

Mossy is on the way to TacOrd.

Now I wait, Tick Tock - Tick Tock.

If the results, to be expected, I might send my Poilce Mag for some felting as well.
