Leica Scopes

I had one of the older ones when they were assembled by Leupold, and the glass was on par with the best. While they haven't been making scopes for that long, they're no stranger to high end cameras and binoculars, so they definitely know their stuff and are regarded as top of the line.
 
Sorry, what few I saw while in WSS were pretty wonky. That store dumped all Leica scopes soon after.

PS.. Leica rangefinders, binos, and spotters... YUMMY. Scopes... not so much, at least I wouldn't go into the purchase without first inspecting the scope.

Would you care to be specific on "wonky"? That seems to be your descriptor regarding virtually any brand of scope not Sightron.

I've sold many Leica ER and ERi scopes without a single warranty issue. Discriminating customers thoroughly appreciate the quality of the glass, features, adjustment, and fit and finish. Can't say that I've ever heard a customer describe them as "wonky", even when compared in person, alongside other brands/models such as Swarovski Z5/Z6, Schmidt Bender, Zeiss HD5/DL/Victory/V8, Meostar, or Nightforce.

A marketing strategy that depends on putting down competitor products isn't much of a strategy...not a mature one at least.
 
My friend has one on his rifle and he loves the glass and bought it because the 1600b is so clear but on the rifle he struggles with parallax issues I believe it is a 3-9 er.

Leica is renowned for making the best optical glass in the world. Their camera lenses are also the most expensive lenses in the world (considerably more than Zeiss). Elcan is the former Ernst Leitz Canada and the Leitz family started and owned Leica for more than 100 years. Someone above described Leica Scopes as 'pretty wonky'. I suspect this person does not know what they're talking about.

The only time Leica had real issues with their scopes is when Leupold made them which isn't surprising.
Time will tell on the new line but if they are using Leica glass at least that part will be excellent.
Who is making the new line for them?

DUDE, who's accusing who of doing what?

I provide my opinion of scopes I viewed in a store shown by the staff of said store. You can take my opinion as accurate or not... That store no longer carries those scopes... good, bad, not my call.

You seem to think I slag other products just for S&G's... that sir is most certainly WRONG. I am providing my experience as a shooter. take it or leave it.

There are a number of Sightron products I DO NOT recommend so take that or leave that.

I find it is usually best to keep any negative descriptions on the vague side .. don't want to get anyones in a knot you see.

Leica scopes that I have carried and sold all seemed high end and quality products. We do not inventory these scopes presently due to low customer demand but will gladly bring them in if requested. We have not seen any warranty issues on any Leica product. Phil.

Plainsight has a point. I recall you saying that the Swaro's you looked through at WSS were "wonky" as well.

Maybe your eyesight is wonky as you have repeatedly dismissed premier products renowned for the quality of their glass for "price point" optics that most discriminating users would consider adequete at best.
There is always a subtle negative cast towards other products when compared to Sightron.
If the "other" scope is robustly built its seen as too heavy or overbuilt with comments like "If you want to drive nails with it" thrown in to convey a sense that its better build quality is actually a negative. Where as the fragile by comparison Sightron is euphemistically presented as light weight or adequate for its intended purpose. On and on.

Its getting old. Be a Sightron dealer, not a snake oil salesman.
 
I have both Leica and SB and a few other Bushnells. The Leica is top end with super clarity. You will see more and better due to the quality of the glass.

Go into WSS sometime and see what they offer. Yes, that Swaro had some weird lense issue too. But then, I doubt it was made in Europe either :)

As a business, more stuff to offer the better. I am constantly looking for good product to offer to customers. So what advantage would there be to make up stories on good product that might actually make me $$$????

If all I am is a self serving snake oil salesman, then I would be the first in line to offer every "latest greatest" wouldn't I?

Tell them what they want to hear... take their money with a smile.

My business is to offer my customers quality product that will help them on their quest in precision and competition shooting. If it works, I will seriously look at offering it especially if it offers good value to my customers... Some stuff costs alot. Some stuff doesn't.. Some stuff has good value... others don't

But first, it has to work and I do test the vast majority of what I sell so.... take my observations as slinging mud or accurate. That is entirely up to you.

And I offer more then Sightron scopes :)

I have looked through a few Leica scopes, and I found the Leica glass to be very clear , with great light transmission, but I did not get the opportunity to test the tracking or to see how well they hold zero. I do own multiple Swarovski riflescopes, and they are my favorite hunting scopes. On the other hand I have owned one Sightron, a Big Sky SII, and I was not at all impressed. I much prefer a Nikon Monarch in that price range. Then again, perhaps I was just unlucky enough to have received a "wonky" Sightron.:)

In your opinion, anything that doesn't have the Sightron name on it is wonky, so I'll take that with a grain of salt. :rolleyes:

It'll be interesting if you'll start slinging poo at Sightron should you ever switch brands or should I say start selling another brand.

I already said there are some Sightrons I do not recommend to my customers.

As they say " believe it or not" but a simple trip to WSS or other big box and see what consumer grade products are being offered might be enlightening.

I can't be that unlucky to run keep running into wonky product at elevated price points. This stuff is in their display. The staff hand me the scopes... the problems are pretty obvious if you take the time to look.

Get a review posted when my new site is finally done. Brand new out of the box purchased for a custom rifle build... alot of great stuff, then some not so good stuff. I expect a huge push back on that review as there are plenty of fans for this brand AND this scope. But it went back and likely off to warranty for repair/replacement.... I hope.

The owner was not very impressed - not sure what he ended up with but it was not this scope.

But hey, I just sell snake oil.... Have a great weekend guys...I'm off to put more holes in paper at 1000yds.

I don't see any scopes besides Sightron on your website except a 36x Weaver. Am I missing something?

Regardless, evidently I'm not the only one who pretty much ignores your advice. You invade pretty much every optics post citing Sightron as the "best" and it just happens to be the only brand you sell. Your excuse is always that you haven't found a brand as good to sell yet. :rolleyes:

And again, your 'experience" with Leica starts and ends at a WSS counter. Is this also how you base your other "reviews", including the scathing one coming up? I'm on pins and needles waiting.............. Laugh2
