Anyone knows where I could get an AR upper with a 20 inch (or longer) barrel, flat top?
It would be even better if it were a heavy barrel.

I can't find it. Seems everyone is selling carbine uppers or fixed A2 type upper with 20" skinny barrel.

I just picked up: http://www.irunguns.com/product.stag-arms-m6-223-24-10-round-8-317

The price was same as buying just the upper here more or less :) Stags are on SALE

have fun

^^^As usual Questar doesn't have anything in stock.

Alberta Tactical can make a barrel for you with any profile and length you want.

ya.... for the price of a complete upper :)

I would wait the 30 days for Questar or IRUNGUNS, but my pockets are probably more shallow than yours

The OP specified 'flat top', so I think he wants the complete upper not just the barrel as well.

i once put a deposit at Questar, by the time they got the product in store, 19 months had passed, I had moved out of the country for work.
Lost my deposit.
Kinda feels like its a way to make money without ever selling anything, just making money by taking non refundable deposits.
Learned my lesson.

Whoa! Lots of replies. More options than I thought. Thanx guys.

Get the Windham 20" VEX-SS. Fluted stainless heavy profile with rifle-length gas.

Thought I would prefer chrome moly over SS I don't think I can be too picky as a Canadian.
Got a link for that?

ya.. I was gonna go with that one, but for an extra hundred bucks I got the whole rifle :) http://www.irunguns.com/product.stag...10-round-8-317

also, I do not trust fluted barrels to be as accurate as a heavy barrel straight profile. They look neat, and save weight but I am unconvinced the added stress to the steel will not cause groups to wander as the barrel heats up.

as for the Questar feedback.. first bad stuff I have heard. I have ordered LPK's, mags, and other small stuff with no issues and quick delivery... but the issue with the lost deposit and wait times for orders is definitely concerning

An acquaintance of mine works there (not an owner/boss AFAIK) and he seems like a really solid guy, and contributes to the club I shoot at a tremendous amount. So there is at least one honest and straight up guy working there :)

Sorry to hear about that lost deposit though?? Did you ever follow up while you were out of the country to see if they would take care of you??

I have that barrel with factory gas block (rail block) and gas tube - also it has been threaded for compensator. Guessing 3k rounds through it. PM if you are interested in buying.

Your link isn't working for me. So I tried a search on that site and still could not locate it.
Can you give me more details please? Or maybe you bought the last one and it's no longer on their site?

And yes, I agree on the fluted barrel. I think a full barrel with all the steel on it works better. It's just more rigid and the added cooling of the fluted one is likely very minimal.

As for the weight. A heavy barrel is intended for prone or bench shooting. So weight isn't much of an issue and the added weight of the barrel not only reduces harmonics but it also reduces recoil and muzzle jump. Allowing for faster re-aquisition.

And on a longer range precision I wouldn't expect to shoot that much to the point the barrel gets really hot.
Carbine maybe, sniper gun, not so much.
