Double stroking while depriming .357?

Hey folks , any idea why , on the first stroke the primer didn't pop out? I'm having to give it a second stroke and right at the beginning of the second stroke the pressure pops the primer out. You can hear a pop sound. Rcbs dies and .357 mag brass. I've tryed moving my decap pin down further and it makes no difference.

The primer is sticking to the decapping pin and it's being reseated when you pull the brass down

Yup, happens to me with some of my brass as well. Never figured the decapping pin would be the culprit. Thanks.

I learned while trying to decap heavily crimped/sealed Canadian 50's 9mm brass. If the decapping pin didn't punch clean thru they would stick to the decapping pin

It's all bad enough , doing 500 .357 on a single once ... Now I have to deprive them twice..

Some say they have had success in sharpening the decapping pin like a pencil. Others take a Dremel and cut off the tip at about a 75 to 80 degree angle.

pencil= going thru it easier.

I experienced that on my Dillon. Fixed it by putting a very slight taper on the decapping pin and then polishing it with some Autosol. Still occurs occasionally, maybe once out of ~200 rounds or so.

I guess I'll just flatten it out with a small file. Funny thing is, it just started happening recently. It wasn't always this way. I only have to start the second stroke and the air pressure will pop the primer out .

I usually just do a quick double half press and the spent problem primer pops free.

Is a "Ribs die" an RCBS die? Just curious.
You're overthinking the whole thing. No filing or sharpening should be required. Might be a bit of crud on the case or something else causing the spent primer to stick a bit. The 'bump' of the second cycle is most likely what jostles the primer off.
You tumbling before or after sizing? Don't think it matters but tumbling first might fix it.

....and of course there is always the option of changing out to brass for something that deprimes easier? Is this something that occurs more with hot loads? I have never seem it, but my .357 loads are no where near max.

Yes it's Rcbs dies ( spellcheck ) . They're nickle cases loaded to max. I tumble them first.
