What's a decent price these days for a M70 Supergrade new from a dealer? (If one was to find one)

if you can find a new one at $1200, BUY IT. the MSRP on a SG is close to $1600. Since the plunge of the canadian dollar, the distributors prices have sky rocketed, so the low prices usually only apply to "in-stock" rifles.

The prices seem to vary from dealer to dealer, but some where around $1200. Local markets and individual pieces vary. An extra nice example might make a small dealer hold out for full pop. I bought a 270 Win in Cabellas 50th Supergrade Featherweight for $1000 about a year ago, lost a .264 Win that the dealer wouldn't budge off of $1400 for.

Whelenlad;
Between 900 and a thousand, more or less. I got this one in the 9's.

Yeah, he got his price. Part of that was likely the caliber, there just aren't that many .264s around. It did have nice wood, but not the best or worst I've seen.

The same dealer isn't adverse to cutting a deal here and there to good customers, I just think he knew he could name his price on that one. Same dealer that sold me the figured Featherweight come to think of it.

Anyone have any idea why the M-70 Super Grades and new M-70,s in general have been so scarce. I notice on Epps site they have a good stock of the new economy XPR rifles so it is not like Winchester is not shipping.

Dealers can sell a lot more $700 or less rifles then $1200+ rifles. Bring in what flies off the shelves.

Langford Victoria Canadian-Tire had a .300WM Featherweight at $1,050, but no Super-Grades. I suggest you consider a clean lightly used one. Our dollar is really taking affect, for me anyway.

I bit the bullet and picked one up, just got the optics and rings together . The build quality on these new M70's is superb, you get a lot of rifle for your money.

M70 Supergrade in 308 w/ a VX-3 3.5-10x40 (Crappy pic, sorry)
