ACR Media and Info Thread

So I tried a factory 16 inch ACR barrel in an AR upper. Good news is that it shot pretty decent, bad news is that it didn't cycle fully, I took it home and opened up the gas port slightly and will test again next time out and report back with the results and also what size gas port it needs once I know it cycles properly.

Heres the completed rifle

So has the supply of these pretty much dried up for now? Was hoping to pick one up around the end of the month but have had no luck finding one.

There are lots of new ACR's around, just not as Non-restricted. The whole Non-restriceted ACR option from Irunguns and Arms East was kind of a one shot deal. Best bet now is to buy a restricted one and send it to Dlask or Herron Arms. (I think Red Deer Shooting Center has ACR's in stock)

Thanks, I'll have to give them a call. I don't have an issue with having it re-classified, from what I can tell, Herron does good work.

I tought of mounting offset MBUS PRO on mine too how do you like them? Can you still fold the stock?
there is no point for me to switch yet as I'm running a H1 right now but eventually maybe...

nah can't fold the stock with the back there, I would have to move it forward a bit, but frankly I never fold the stock!

Me to, I only fold the stock to put it in the case and sometimes when I sling it while walking. I never shoot it folded. Useless shooting it folded, can't hit anything, just making noise.

My ACR and AR-180B were not happy having the Tavor around so I traded it off. Thought it was a decent little toy but it didn't put a smile on my face like shooting the other two.

Did pretty good on the trade I think. Now I have this.

To those that have swapped the gas system onto a new (built for the ACR) barrel, may I ask what's involved? Is it as easy as drifting out a couple of cross pins to mount the gas block? Can't find this info anywhere on the interwebs.
Thanks in advance.

I've done it numerous times. If you're putting the gas block on a new barrel you need to either cross drill and file the holes for the taper pins to fit or drill and tap the gas block. I chose the drill and file method for both of my barrels.

If the barrel is already cross drilled then yes it's as simple as drifting out the pins and slipping the gas block off the old and onto the new. Takes about 5 min.
