The number of times I've seen low end gear place at a match... Zero. Which means the quality of the gear does indeed play a role in how well one can perform. That being said, I have seen folks with iron sighted AR's and VZ's absolutely demolish people with very expensive optics on their rifles. Equipment plays a role, but it is still the shooter that makes the shot; If his rifle works..TW25B
My first and currently only ar is a bushmaster. I've ran probly 1500 rounds through it with not a single issue. It's a work horse for me, has served me very well. Affordable too.
I have seen Norc's place well at Service Rifle, I've seen DPMS and S&W M&P15's dominate multigun matches down south...Heck, I've seen an SKS stay in the race at a CQB match (inspired me to try it myself)...Not saying a high quality rifle isn't going to up your game, but you need to have game to begin with. As long as your go to gun is reliable, good shooters can compensate for a lot of perceived disadvantages.
Not sure if you read all of my last post. I agree that a good shooter makes a huge difference as equipment will only carry you so far. My point was that sub par equipment that doesn't work won't carry you at all. There will always be some poor quality guns that end up running just fine(as far as recreational use is concerned) but why would you take the risk of getting a lemon when you can buy a known brand with a solid reputation, like the ones listed on the first page of this thread?

Two norincos for $1000 are better than any ar out there for $1000.
Hk416 is the most reliable all round. Hands down it is built for that purpose. But there are other requirements and needs that do not make it always the first choice for other mil/ Leo or civilians to have in there line up.
As for the norinco argument.
It's just stupid to compare based on a few competitions, the rifle will not last long and is pooched past 10,000 rds or sooner depending on rate of fire. Not to mention on a side note many Norinco M4 users tend to hide the fact of all the replacements parts or upgrades they have done. In the end they may have just been better off buying something better in the first place.
Guys, this is a shout out to all LE/Military members on the CGN forum. In your professional opinion (ie: based on your experience and operations), what are the best manufactuers for a AR-15/Patrol Carbine (excluding Colt because we all know it's awesome...lol) that you would bet your life on and where would I get them in Canada?
Examples: Stag, Daniel Defense, Sig, LMT etc. Thanks
You can be loud and proud all you want, but the antis aren't listening and the media will simply write you off as just another angry redneck with a gun. Framing your AR within the context of just another sporting rifle helps tear down their boogeyman and show the public that black rifles are legitimate sporting rifles, no different than any other sporting rifle of a more traditional design.
Where are you going in Canada that you will 'bet your life' on your weapon systems?...........or are you just looking for a good plinker for the range?
