Anyone know where is the best place to buy a Remington Wingmaster 870 28" 3" vent rib barrel with Rem Chokes? Cabela's has it on their website for $299. Is this a good price?

Jackrabbit I don't think $300 for a barrel is a good deal. Check out Le Baron on line. On p8 of their catalog they have new Rem 3 inch barrels with Rem choke for $ 213.94 Also on P-2 of the catalog they have new model 870 Express 3 in shotguns for $ 392.94. You can also have the synthetic stock 3 in gun for $416.94. If you want bigger they have the Super Express 870 3 1/2 inch guns in wood or synth. either for $ 464.94. Hope that helps

Usually less expensive if the barrel is not in a blister pack too. Bought a slug barrel a few years back out of the package for a bit over $200 with taxes. The packaged one was $100 more. Like rokoro says, $300 isn't great. Pretty much the standard price for an 870 barrel.
Lotta places don't put stuff like barrels on their site too.

Be aware that although either barrel will fit either gun, Wingmaster and Express barrels use different methods to secure them in place. Using an Express barrel on a Wingmaster may result in the magazine cap loosening off.

That is an express barrel not a wingmaster
Cheers

289 to 299 is the going rate for these at wsports and cabelas now it seems
These are blued wingmaster barrels and normally come with 3 choke tubes vs one in express or at least did when I bought the last one
Cheers

To the OP I would also check with Gravel Agencies. They have suprised me a few times and had some in stock at very fair prices better than the box stores
I bought a couple from them over the years blued for wingmasters from them and was very pleased
Once again ask for the price if one or three choke tubes are included
Cheers

That is the reason I said $ 300. 00 for a polished blued Wingmaster barrel was a fair price for a new one .

No disagreement from me my friend. :) My last one was for a 16ga wingmaster with rem chokes and that set me back 389 plus and the canadian dollar was not like it is today
Dam for another few bucks I would have been able to make a down payment on a replacement Browning barrel ;)
Cheers

Thanks for the replies guys. Picked one up from Cabela's for $300. It's 2 3/4, 3 and 3 1/2" with 3 chokes. They actually had some in stock at the Windermere store.

Congrats. That is the same barrel I picked up from Gravel and was suprised when it arrived made to accept 3 1/2 but then again remington did make a limited run of 3 1/2 wingmasters
Cheers

Stuble: is it just the dimple and that engraved pattern that secure the cap in place on the wingmaster? I've got one mix and match and noticed the difference, but its held on ok.

Well I had another look and it turns out that was a wingmaster barrel on a wingmaster receiver, but in the spirit of science I swapped an express barrel onto the wingmaster receiver and headed to the range. After a few shots it was loosening the barrel nut. I picked up a 1" inch plumbing o-ring and installed it on the nut last night. Will try again...
