Any legal reason you can't put a small hole in an A1A magazine so it's like a M14 mag?

I know you can't mod a magazine to hold more than the legal limit but you're allowed to smooth and sand so the fit is okay... so what about adding a small hole in the front so a M14/M305 can hold the front securely? I noticed that mine has enough play that the front will drop a bit and might cause a jam. Our CA laws and lack of detailed information always make me paranoid.

I still can't believe BB guns and paintball guns are now firearms. A friends kid had his confiscated and got a warning from police for shooting one in his garage at targets. Safe setup he used for years. It's the a$$hats shooting paintball guns from cars that need to be fined.

BTW - Alflahertys.com still has 10 round A1A mags for sale. Only $70 in store, $75 online.

AIA don't need holes to work in norcs. Been using mine for the past 5yrs no problems.
Also, without the hole, you can show the lack of hole as proof that it wasn't designed for the 14/305. With the hole, you got some splainin to do.

My understanding is modding a magazine in any way that makes it work better in a firearm it wasn't "designed" for would make it a prohibited device.

I don't know about your A1A mag but I can confirm you paintball markers are NOT considered firearms, nation wide at least...

Don't know if they could actually do a provincial/local law but they are not from the federal.

Is anybody experiencing problems with these mags in their M14's, Norc or otherwise? I have only two of them but they feed and function perfectly in my single Norc with no modification.

Okay, it sounds like it's not legal then. Haven't tried the two I bought yet, just noticed they didn't sit quite the same way and that the front could move. If it's a non-issue I won't worry about it. That's why I asked.

I may have misunderstood but when I was at my club a few months back I heard the president telling another member that new rules are in place making air guns over 300FPS a firearm that needs to be locked up and a trigger lock on it when travelling(. It used to be 500FPS as I've looked that one up in the past before buying my son a BB gun.) I'll see if I can find anything on this as paintball guns are air guns and shoot over 300FPS. (I think it's just under 400FPS for outdoor use but I haven't played in years.)

All I can find at the moment is the 500FPS rule on the RCMP site.

Edit: This seems to be closer to what I heard...or misunderstood.
SUPREME COURT OF CANADA RULES THAT AIR GUNS ARE "FIREARMS".

"This decision applies to all air guns that are capable of causing serious bodily injury or death. Most courts have found that any air gun with a velocity of more than 214 feet-per-second meets this threshold."

"First of all, the Criminal Code provisions regarding careless storage, use and transportation of firearms now apply to air guns. Therefore, it is an offence to store or transport an air gun in a “careless” manner. However, because the ordinary firearms Storage Regulations do not apply to air guns, air gun owners are left with absolutely no guidance as to what precisely constitutes careless storage of an air gun."

keep the mag as is, I shot with 2 different AIA's in my m1a when I had one, functioned flawlessly, if it does not, look for other problems.

I've had 5 different A1A mags with no hole, all engaged/disengaged & fired flawlessly in my M305.
