Anybody know where a guy who's never had a hunting license can challenge the test? Anywhere from Ottawa to Toronto and everywhere in between is doable. Posting this up for a buddy of mine, he's got his P.A.L just needs his huntin license it'd be dumb if he had to go through the whole course for one test. PM me if you know of anybody. Thanks

I don't think you can challenge the exam anymore, you have to take the course since the new bill was passed a few weeks ago.

For myself, I'd rather an over-educated hunter that was made aware of the latest in rules and conservation practices than one who did his learning a long time ago and "knows" it all already.

Remember the OP never had a hunting license.

Take the course and learn something. Last thing I would want is a bunch of yahoos running around the bush with firearms with no concept of safety, regulations or common courtesy

if a guy cannot spend a half a day In a class to catch up on the latest rules and regs ,he must not want to hunt very badly .you are going to spend a life time enjoying the outdoors why not spend a few hours getting updated on the regs ...Dutch

As I mentioned above, I'm askin for my buddy who has his P.A.L already just needs his huntin license. It's not a matter of him not wanting to spend half a day in a class it's a matter of him not havin the time or lining up there schedules with with his work. He's on the road 6 days a week usually and doesn't have much time to get it done on his day off. People are pretty quick to come up with their own conclusion and comments on why he doesn't do the classroom test so I just figured I clear that up for ya's now.

He was just lookin for a place to call, set it up go in, get it done and get out cause he has one day a week to do anything. But I'll let him know that he can't challenge it, thanks for lettin me know.

I know what you mean, but it's irrelevant and not a matter of conclusions: he needs the course, whether he wants it or not. If he can't afford the day it takes to get it (exam included), we don't really want him roaming the woods around us, you know? He'd be an accident waiting to happen.

^^^^^ Definitely stopped doing some hunting because the bush where we hunted became a wild west zone

Hows he going to find time to go hunting?

I told him that, he's gonna try and work somethin out. He handles guns well we grew up together and been around them since before we could walk. He has hunted but never with his own gun always just went with people he knows what he's doin. But I do know what you mean and I have to say thank you for not bein a snarky #### like ALOT of people are on here when it come to askin for help or a simple question.

He's like me, if they didn't give him deer season off he'd quit. Why you might ask? Because that time with the gang is more important than a job that works you to death.

I have had my firearms license for years, only got my Hunting License last October. I had to take the class. Since most Hunting courses are combined with PAL courses, you just need to show up on the Saturday (in my experience at "That Hunting and Fishing Store") around noon, after the PAL test is finished, and sit through the course. The test was taken on Sunday morning. On Monday, I went to a Service Ontario and had my License.

Not sure about Ontario but in Alberta you can do the course and test online.
You can do the course over a couple of days (as you get time) and then get 90 minutes to do the test
