Ruger Precision Rifle Coming Soon!

Same here, I called in this afternoon for mine. Now I'll need to settle on an optic, one that will do the job, but also not break the bank. *shrugs* This oughta be fun.

thanks for the update Gary and Tyson,

1 months sounds better than 3! but im in the same boat as KTM and am optic shopping in the meantime.

I think i am picking up a bushnell Elite tactical 6500 series 4.5-30x50 Mil Dot Illuminated as they are now reasonable at under $1000 instead of the above $1700 they originally came in at. Should pair nicely.

If that is the gun you want, then definitely. The RPR appears to have as much potential as any platform at this point but we'll now more once there are more out there in the hands of good shooters.

That said, the real point of this rifle isn't for it to be a super-customizable semi-custom build type rifle. Ruger'a intent was to build a rifle that will allow shooter to be able to get into precision shooting competitions (non f class) and be fairly competitive with an out of the box rig. Hopefully they have succeeded!

^agreed. My next rifle is going to be a .243 Win, so i'm anxiously awaiting a report on this gun in that caliber. I had a Tikka picked-out then this beauty came along. lol At this point, based on my limited Ruger experience..I have a hard time imagining this gun will out-shoot a Tikka Varmint..so I'll be needing some convincing.

The real question is are you able to out shoot either guns?

Definitely. I am a shooting machine. :) In all seriousness....have you ever heard anyone say "gee, I wish my Tikka shot as well as my Ruger". lol If the question has been asked, I've certainly never heard it. However, I'm sure (=I hope) Ruger has really stepped-up their game with this rifle, due to the cool factor alone. They deserve a chunk of the sporting rifle market with a gutsy design like this.

I am thinking maybe the .243, then getting the sako 7mm hunter stainless for the heavy lifting or something i want a caliber that will drop an elk at 800 yards no problem. yes i am new to hunting and pretty new to guns in general. any help much appreaciated.

I don't have it yet, but I do have it's sister product Weaver Tacitcal 1-5x24 CIRT. I think I know what I'm in for, and it should be good. Price wise and getting it into Canada is another matter, cost will run about 1300 CAD. Steep, but better than other options in that price range (my opinion doesn't mean much). I called a few vendors in BC and they can't get them, my previous vendor I got the 1-5 from canceled my order due to no longer importing US products. I found another source that does export, but I'm waiting for confirmation. Drop a note in PM when the rifles are in and I'll let you know.

Price? how do you like it? let me know.

I've got a BCM - KMR 13 hand guard on order, a Rogers super stoc,a 2.5x 16 bushnell 6500 ,a Aero precisionount,6 different brands of ammunition , and 75 hand loads to test. All I need is a gun. If I can hit golf balls at 400 yards , that's good enough for me.:)

Hey Gary or Tyson, another sponsor has said there's a problem with the mags, are these with all the mags that come with the diff cal rifle? And we can use the xcr-m mags , right? Do we have an option of getting the rifle without the mags, if the mag issue is the only reason for the delay.
