anyone know how to remove the barrel nut from the barrel? It came inserted into the Handguard from the factory. Thanks

Yeah ive watched that video. Didnt really help. I assumed it just pulls right off the handguard but holly damn, she is tight in there. Anyone here ever installed on of these? If so what did you use to pull the barrel nut out of the handguard?

So are you having difficulty getting the barrel nut off the barrel (as in your first post) or are you having difficulty getting the barrel nut out of the handguard (as in your second post)?I've installed one of these handguards and don't recall having any issues removing the special barrel nut from the handguard to get ready for the install. There are some teeth (4 it think) on the back of the handguard that mesh with the scallops on the nut to stop it from rotating. There are also 2 bolts on the bottom of the handguard that fix the handguard to the nut (these of course need to be loosened).

A rubber mallet will get it off without marring the surface.

Hahah. I must have been drunk. I was actually having trouble removing the barrel nut from the handguard. When I bought the handguard it had the barrel nut installed and it was pretty snug with minial surface to actually grab and remove it. I ended up using a tool I had and managed to "hook" it out from the inside without marring it at all. Thanks guys!
