Hello all! I have been looking around for quite a while and haven't found anything, but I'm looking for bulk 7.62x51 or .308 to feed the M305. Not looking for match accuracy, it'll just be for plinking, I love that big old ##### of a rifle :) I'm looking to order from somewhere that offers free shipping, I checked Canada ammo and would gladly purchase one of the 500 round packs but they're sold out. I also found some hirtenberger at trade ex but I haven't been able to find much information on it and if I remember correctly was ~$199/240 rounds vs Norc being ~$270-$299/500 rounds. Just not quite the same bang for the buck, pardon the pun.

I bought a bunch of american eagle when it was on sale at Cabelas. It was pretty much the same price as surplus so I figured it was a better deal. My sub MOA bolt gun turns into a 3 MOA gun with it, and my 3 MOA m305 turns into a 6 MOA gun.

Moral of the story is... Try to buy/borrow a small amount to see if your guns like it before you buy a metric ton of it.

I picked up 3 cases of the Hirt and it's great stuff. 2 Berdan primed and just received my case of boxer from Wolverine. Have not Shot the boxer, but the Berman primed stuff shoots excellent (MOA or better out of my Savage 10TR, 1.5 MOA give or take out of my NM M1a. It's worth the extra cash if your actually shooting and nit just blasting away.

I was talking to this site sponsor on the phone the other day, I was told shipping was going to be $20-30..... I have no exp with this ammo, but it is just about the cheapest out there right now..... I didn't buy any because I have quite a bit of 308/7.62 ammo already and it isn't cheap enough to add more to the stock pile!

Nork steel case ammo is pretty consistent, at $475/ case it was a really good buy, at $575, it is still pretty reasonable. At $600.... Meh. If I find any at $475, I will be adding to the stock pile! I have 3.5 crates left (I originally bought 10).

The hirtenburger ammo is actually fairly expensive at $550/720 round. A good price for ammo that is brass cased and boxer primed, but if its berdan primed I classify it in the steel case non-reload able category. I'm sitting the better part of 3 cases of this ammo, it seems to be a decent performer out of the M-14 not to hot. If I could get it for $450/crate to my door, I'd be racking up the CC! The tradex price includes shipping, it is the best price IMHO. If a guy was able to find it boxer primed at $550 I would probably get a bit silly and order 2-3 more crates. Right now Americans are paying $.73/rnd for the Hirt and it is touted as the best bang for their buck on M-14 forum.

Cheers!

I run norc through my xcr-m for the vast majority of my shooting. Never had a misfire. Definitely not match accurate, but it shoots every bit as well as one would expect ball to shoot. I think it is good ammo and buy it whenever on sale.

Last I checked london bulls eye still had norc in crates of 1k rounds for about 480-490 + shipping of about 40$ IIRC.

I get sick and tired of BEL changing their prices almost daily. I'll print out the web site price in the morning only to get there by noon and find they raised the price $20+. Case in point, these 500 round cans are now $270 each. 4 Days ago I bought the same can for $245 each.

bulls eye also ridiculously gouges on the norinco 556

Yes, I used to go to Al's but they ran out at $335 for 1200. Grabbed the last two cases from BEL months back for something like $350 per 1200. MR1 loves it but my MVP sometimes strikes it to light, must be harder primers. Still have about 500-750 of the Barnaul which works well in both rifles.

Norc stuff is loaded pretty snappy too compared to the Rusky stuff - especially if we are talking Norc 5.56. That stuff is true M193 ball pressures IMHO.
