Thats the issue ... be "Mr Nice Guy" and let him go only to discover he reciprocates by ripping a hole in your roof to set up home for the family in the attic... and decides the best latrine for the family (after much trial and error) is in the corner of the attic over the kids room!! When you get around to cleaning it out ... you wonder how many of the flea bites you get while doing it are going to turn septic on you ... fxxk em ... if they cant take a joke they shouldnt be hanging around your house. AND make sure that the little old lady next door with the blue hair that has been feeding the bxstards all winter gets a talking too as well.
 
Dake21... Be very careful about how you go about dealing with your raccoon problem. You have chosen to live in the suburbs and therefore, must abide by a standard set of bylaws which most, if not all towns and municipalities share. Unfortunatly, because of where you live, legally your hands are tied and the only way to get rid of a pest is to contact an exterminator, pay them a bunch of money and have the critter relocated. If you live in the country, then it is a different story. Just be warned that bylaws (whether enforced by the city or prosued by the humane society) are real laws. Look what happened to this poor guy in this article...

I believe that this particular racoon that has victimizing the OP is behaving in an antisocial manner and it sounds like it is rabid....if only to protect the children in the neighborhood... that the racoon has demonstrated unnatural aggression towards......the op had to take immediate and drastic action (he is heartbroken - but it was necessary!)...imho

This is my thought, find a radical, PETA member, vegan who thinks hunting is abhorrent.

Pull up to their home with your "occupied" trash bin and remark something along the lines of..."I know you love animals so I thought you would care for this fellow in distress"

Open the lid with the flourish of a showman (perhaps you could wear a cape???) and be sure to never break character.
 
Like I said, I let him go. Guess what? He's back in the bin again! Few nights ago he ripped my garbage bags open when I put them on the curb for the next morning. I had to get up early to put everything in bags again!!! :mad: How fragile is a racoon? I have old rear disk brake, how about dropping one on his back?

Oh and the exterminator would NOT relocate him. How useful are they? sigh...
 
I have a bunch of them that live in my back yard. After doing battle with them over the years, we signed an armistice agreement. They live in my neighbours trees and can come
through our yard if they leave stuff alone. Proper containers did most of the work and so far it has worked for a few years.

Trouble with poisoning is he might die somewhere in one of your buildings you can't get at. Made that mistake recently with rat's in the basement. Stick with traps I say.

Because in Ontario they are limited in relocation and licensed animal control cannot kill,only trap fur bearers.

From the Ontario MNR website:
release captured live wildlife within 1 kilometre of where they were captured

22short sub sonics are very quiet, on my H and R the hammer is almost louder than the shot
 
22 hollow point works great for rural areas, 12 gauge with #2 for really rural areas and a high velocity pellet gun (right between the eyes) for urban areas. Racoons are nasty and don't belong in Canada. They kill a lot of ducklings,(or eat the eggs) young rabbits, grouse etc.

He probably doesn't require brakes. The squealing is from being trapped not brake wear! ;)
 
the son had a raccoon hanging around, 2 cats went missing, last week found raccoon in barn with 6 small ones, just had to be removed it was 6 times the issues if we left them
