Does the SA M1A NM come with its gas assembly already unitized / shimmed ?

IIRC the SAI NM has a unitized gas assembly. It is also bedded which makes quite the difference.

Don't you hate it when manufacturers don't give details? You think they would have learned by now.

The NM version is souped up with every mod you can do to an M14 to make it more accurate aside from a heavy match barrel.

The NM included all those things, big price from the start but nothing more to do to have a great shooter... JP.

The SA NM I shot had its gas system unitized with the screw and glue 'US Army' method.

and the cool thing about them is they "ping" beautifully right out of the box! mine makes me smile every time i shoot it

the ping has to do with the flash hider acting like a tuning fork. So any m14 with a standard flash hider should ping.

Im just waiting for the dollar to catch up! even though IRG's got a decent deal on them right now..... id feel dumb to buy one now, only to have the Canadian dollar rebound back to .90 in the next year. I'll buy one next summer regardless though.

Yes it does. But the gas system will with be glued and screwed the Army way, or welded. But the welded way will not be to the USMC way.... USMC is to weld at 2,10 & 6. Springfield welds theirs at 12, from 1-11 along the had guard side if the ferrule.

The ping has to do with the complete gun being tight and the harmonics from it and i have had 5 norc's and not one of them pinged, I tuned them all as much i i figured it warranted and have never heard the ping I am getting with my Springfield JFYI
