Embracing my Fudd Heritage

I just wanted to show off my cool hat my wife had custom made for me............
Pretty neat she got the upper lip cover too.

Okay, I'm in for this Fudd parade thing but I'll need some mentoring from you "dyed in the wool" Fudds.............I think I got the rifle covered, as I have a couple Salvage 99s...........hopefully that's Fuddish enough, then I do have some see through Weaver rings and an old K4 to mount up top for a carry handle. I have one in 308, a 99C, and I have an old lightweight takedown in 22 Salvage high power. I'm thinking the 22 HP might be just the ticket...........
I do have grey wool pants and some lace up rubber boots.........the old green ones with yellow laces, you guys know the ones. I have always shunned the R & B wool jackets though.......just never been my style. Correct me now if I'm wrong, but if I'm not mistaken, a western Fudd would be allowed an old beat up cowboy hat yes/no? If not I'll just have to pull down the flaps on my lynx hat and it will have to do. the upper body outer wear could be a problem, I'll have to look around.

So that opens up a whole nuther line of thought. Are there different lines of Fuddism out there? The eastern FUDD would be the classic prototype, but there certainly would be sub-FUDDs as in the western variety, southern strain and even the rare Teutonic-FUDD who would usually carry a 7mmMauser or 9.3x62 while clothed with Lederhosen.

Paul is in the red plaid jacket, blue jeans, tan work boots with grey wool socks with the white top/red line folded over the boots and he is carrying a Win 94 in .32 Special.
Johnn is in a leather western hat, brown Carhartt pants, green plaid wool shirt, and he is carrying a non-Nazi Euro in solid walnut (including the bolt and barrel) in .30/06.
Douglas is wearing his epic lynx hat (made by wife #4 or #5, depending on who's veraion), knee high rubbers in olive green wool pants, plain tan shirt with vest and sporting an equally epic walrus mustache and carrying a beat-up Win 70 with fixed Leupold 4X in .270 Win (.... just kidding, we'll make his a .300 WM)...

- I don't have a red plaid jacket, but I would wear one. We have to wear orange here in the form of a vest or coat. topped with orange hat.
- I only wear jeans while bird hunting with my SxS in warmer weather. Colder days sees me in wool pants or some camo softies I have on hand.
- I don't wear work boots, but do wear LL Bean style boots or Muck boots.
- My wife knitted me a pair of socks like you describe. I love them.
- I don't own lever guns, esp in 32 Special. Everyone knows that a 35 Remington is a better chambering. Closest I have for a FUDD gun now is a 760 carbine in 308, but most days I hunt with a faux TI in 257Roberts.
Any critter as widely distributed as the Fudd is bound to evolve into a number of subspecies in various parts of its range. Paul is obviously the Eastern Fudd, the nominate form of the species...the first one described by science and the one that most people picture when they hear the term "Fudd". This species is probably best known from the Northeastern U.S., with smaller colonies in the Maritimes, Quebec and Ontario. Johnn is a prime example of the Western Fudd, similar in form and habits but with minor differences in the plumage...er, clothing choice. Douglas typifies the less-common Migratory Fudd, which is known to travel to far-flung corners of the globe to pursue its interests.
I think that I fall into the category of Northern Fudd, properly referred to as the Boreal Fudd. A Boreal Fudd listens to the calls and songs of the other Fudd subspecies, as they discuss pump guns, lever guns and even (gasp!) semi-autos...but the Boreal Fudd knows that the only true Fudd gun is a sporterized, open-sighted cut-down "Tree-Oh-Tree"!

It would only make sense that Fuddism would evolve differently in different regions and climates creating different preferred clothing and firearms........though none can be of that black semi auto variety, for sure. Unless there is an evolving para military Fudd, but I'm afraid I must resist this concept though as the opposite of true Fuddism.
I was a sub and high Arctic Fudd for many years with a uniform to suit..........-60 Kamik boots over 2 pairs of socks, -60 down filled parka over three other layers, snow and wind resistant pants over insulated pants over Moreno wool underwear and a balaclava and beaver fur mitts over light wool gloves, and sometimes complete whites over all this........and a bolt action rifle, because it's the only action one can trust in this climate, or a bow when it's REALLY cold.

I think that it would be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our diversity, but I've been thinking, and a parade sounds like there it might involve some walking.
In true fashion, it needs to be a parade of trucks - that's our hunting platform. That's the place to sleep during the hunt, and it's well known that driving up and down a road provides the best opportunity for a good shot. That's where we keep our "Truck Rifles" too.
