That one is an old carbon steel model I found in a pawn shop for a price I won't repeat.Extra points for being sharpened so many times the belly of the blade has flattened out in the middle. That is like uber FuddI've got about a 6 YO original model Russel great knives.

Good choice. Here's a couple that have served me well over the years.
The one on the right, originally started out as a Puma White Hunter that I couldn't live without. All it ended up being good for was slicing bacon in camp so I had it cut down to use as a skinning knife.
On knives, another set I have that I made up on a trip a few years ago on the way through to Terrace was these Buck knives. Had one, and picked up the other two from from a site member, todbartel at Omineca Source for Sports in Vanderhoof.
And, last year after my Antelope hunt in AB, I was given a knife by Elk Ridge, the one in the middle, and liked the configuration so I bought two more to make up another set of 'needed' knives.

Sooooo True! I hunt with a fudd that mounted a fine VX-L with the barrel contour glass on his M70 with cheap see through rings standing up there like a jacked up truck. If you spend over a grand on nice glass the chances of it letting you down are slim to none if you have practiced shooting with it.
I should talk though, I live in a Fudd rich environment and the fuddlyness is starting to creep into the cackles of my heart... Or maybe below the cackles.
Nice inherited rifle, shoot it!

I dug out my semi-completed Fudd Hunting Outfit. Still need proper pants and boots but you get the idea.
That brings back memories. I had just such an outfit, except I had a RED GREEN style flip over red/green hunting hat to go with it. Yes, Red/Green
No orange back then, Red Plaid and a red hat was all that was deemed necessary.
My red coat had a wool fleece lining added by my grandmother. Itchy as hell, but very warm.
At the time, I carried a Solingen knife with the handle made of leather disks. The knife worked quite well, but it was a pain to get shaving sharp, and didn't stay that way long. My late uncle used one his entire hunting career his was always razor sharp.
I carry a folder now, no belt knife at all.
He hunted with an SMLE using milsurp ammo with the points filed off. He rarely had a season he didn't get his deer.

The sides do flap down and tie under my chin, for when it's -60.........that's lynx and is unbelievably warm........too warm most of the time !!!!

Your concept is Fudd in form...
Except;
Fudds scorn camo & synthetic stocks... and Fudds aren't happy with Canadas immigration policies and would not travel to Kazakhstan (guess"ish") to hunt, when they can pot a meat doe in the "back-40."
That must have been an interesting hunt... was it physically demanding?
This was an aside to my Marco Polo in Tajikistan, that is my old faithful 300 Bee.......Rem 700 SS in a Brown Precision glass stock with my old Zeiss 3-9 Diavari..........I used the old pre-grooved 180 gn barnes X on this guy.........400-450 mtrs at about 17,000 ft. Let me tell you rifles sure shoot flat where there's no air!!!! I shot over 2 goats before I realized not to use my 2500 FASL hold for 400 mtrs @ 17,000 FASL basically my 300 mtr sight in was good to about 450 mtrs at that altitude. Time of flight was incredibly short at the altitudes we were shooting at, with roughly 1/3 the air density of sea level.
Kevan, that is a mid-Asian ibex, about a meter in length.....not exceptional but a nice billy for a Tajik ibex.
Ya, I guess there's not much Fudd in that photo at all, is there.........pretty much all high end hunting gear, and off shore as well, which has been pointed out to be totally against the Fudd philosophy. I just wanted to show off my cool hat my wife had custom made for me............

I'd like to propose a "CGN Fudd Day" that we would celebrate in appropriate fashion every year, by adorning ourselves in Fuddish clothing and regalia, and by then posing for a photo with our ol' reliable shootin iron.
Some day in the Fall near opening day for deer season seems most fitting as that's when Fudds wake from hibernation and blanket local Crown Land in high densities.
