Hey people I just got s rem 700 and the only rings available were the rem high rise rings. I need something until I can get a better mount. Anyway, I did a Google search and got to diff specs . One said 25 to 30 inch pounds and the other said 15 to 18 inch pounds for the bases .So anybody know what would be correct? Also I couldn't find anything on the torque for the rings. Thanks

Wheeler torque wrench instruction recommends 30inch-lbs for the base and 10-15inch-lbs for aluminum ring (15-20 for steel). Personally if u have standard 6-48 thread i wouldn't go past 25inch-lbs(that's all i felt comfortable with).
I would use low strength loctite222 on the screws it used to be light blue now pink and best to let it sit for 24hrs before using the gun also recheck the screws after returning from shooting, as mentioned above the blue loctite is medium to high strength and can be too strong causing you to damage the screws on removal.
Thats what i did.. On the base cadex sugguested 20-25 for larger screws and 15-20 for smaller. Then the rings i went 15 lbs (same size as large base screws), retorqued to 18 after firing.
I didn't put any Ioctite on the rings just the base (cadex told me to!)

Assuming your equipment is actually manufactured to spec. If youre looking at burris, millet, weaver (whatever low end), expect the machining precision or material quality to be below standard. Ive had screws that fit too snug in one hole but too loose on the other side. A small amount of medium strength loctite wont hurt it, but will likely improve surface contact on the thread. Having a loose base screw is an awful and painful experience.
