Hi all,

I am finally selling off the rest of my 303british brass. I don't have access to 303dies anymore.

Can I use my 308 FL resizer/Decapping die to decap these 303British?

Regards

Depends on your decapping die and what type it is. You have it in front of you try it and find out.

If you're selling it why bother??

I always keep a Lee universal decapping die around for many different jobs that it comes in handy for. They're under $20 and can decap anything that uses standard 7/8-14 dies (so not .50BMG and some of the larger African/elephant cartridges).

This. Mine was $8 from WSS. Spares running the gritty stuff through the sizing die.

I've used one of these for a long time. Another idea is the Lee hand decapper which only costs a few bucks. Basically its a mandrel with a decapping pin that you insert into case, place the case into an anvil that comes with it, then hit the top of the mandrel with a hammer. The anvil won't fit the base of a rimmed .303 Brit case, so you need to use a thick washer for this purpose, or just put the case over a hole in a hardwood block to drive out the primer. This one is very handy for depriming military brass with a crimped in primer.

It's a bit bush-league, but if you only have a few dozen to do any 4-6" piece of 1/4" diameter steel rod (the shaft of an old screw-driver, a stripped 1/4" hex extension bit etc) and a few minutes on the bench grinder gives you something you can chuck up in a drill press and deprime quite effectively by using the down-feed wheel. Just narrow the last bit of it down to fit through the primer hole and it works great.

If you ever break it, say "Meh." and head back to the bench grinder to put a new tip on it.
