VZ58 What exactly does this pin do

So earlier today I was switching out my mag release on my rifle and when I popped the pin through this part popped out and it was broken. My guess is that it puts a little pressure on the pin going through the mag release and bolt hold open so it doesn't fall out as easy. Now that its not there it doesn't take much to wiggle that pin out. Thoughts?

It is the cross pin retaining pin for the HOD and mag release. You need it unless you want to loose the cross pin.

Yeah, don't loose that thing, the cross pin will drift right out without it and stuff will get lost quick

Hahaha full auto come on man it's not that simple. Ya that's what I figured was it helped with keeping that drift pin in by pushing against it a little. Thanks guys.

And on top of that its a CSA VZ so they were built with brand new receivers that were never milled to go full auto.

That pin can only be broken by shooting the gun in full auto. Hmmmmm......lol

If it's a CSA they will replace it under warranty
Contact them directly in the Czech Republic.

that pin needs to be removed first to take out the cross pin otherwise your gonna need lots of replacements lol

I believe North Sylva in Toronto now does the warranty work on VZ58 guns.
I had a fantastic experience with them this Spring.
Dropped my VZ58 off to have it checked out because it was occasionally ripping ejected cases in half.
They told me it could be at least 2or 3 weeks before they could look at it but they'd see what they could do.
Had it back fixed and delivered 3 days later!
